In recent years,with the rise of positive psychology,the study of forgiveness has been paid more and more attention.Forgiveness is an adaptive way of coping,which is the collection of cognition,emotion and behavior.When the hurt event occurs,the individual eliminates the negative coping methods such as anger and revenge from the inside,redefines the hurt event from cognition,emotion and behavior,and chooses the positive or neutral coping methods.Forgiveness can change the outcome of actions and create a harmonious environment.It can improve their own mood,maintain a peaceful state of mind;It can also improve an individual's self-esteem and mental health.Rumination is a significant factor in the study of the influence of forgiveness.After adolescent conflict events,rumination will keep the negative emotions on the individual,which will have a negative impact on the individual's cognition and judgment,and then reduce the occurrence of forgiveness behavior.The existing research also found that self-esteem and emotion regulation strategies not only have a certain influence on forgiveness from two aspects of personality and emotion,but also have a significant correlation with ruminant thinking,and self-esteem can also significantly predict emotion regulation strategies.This study is chain intermediary with self-esteem and emotion regulation strategies,through the questionnaire method to explore forgiveness,ruminant thinking,self-esteem and emotion regulation strategies,the relationship between the use of Heartland forgiveness scale(HFS),response styles questionnaire(RSQ),self-esteem scale(SES)and Rosenberg emotion regulation questionnaire(ERS)in high school grade three,a total of 600 high school students,the questionnaire survey to the conclusion as follows:1.There were significant differences in the expression inhibition of forgiveness and emotion regulation strategies among high school students in terms of gender,and there were significant differences in self-esteem among high school students in terms of place of origin and whether they were the only child or not;2.There was a significant negative correlation between ruminant thinking and cognitive reappraisal in self-esteem,forgiveness and emotion regulation strategies,and a significant positive correlation between ruminant thinking and expression inhibition in emotion regulation strategies.3.High school students' self-esteem and cognitive reappraisal were significantly positively correlated with forgiveness,while inhibition of expression was negatively correlated with forgiveness.4.There was a significant positive correlation between high school students' self-esteem and cognitive reappraisal,while there was a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and expression inhibition.5.Self-esteem mediates between rumination and forgiveness;6.The mediating effect of emotion regulation strategy between ruminant thinking and forgiveness;7.There is a chain mediating effect between ruminant thinking and forgiveness between self-esteem and emotion regulation strategies,and self-esteem can significantly predict emotion regulation strategies.In conclusion,this study found that ruminant thinking affects forgiveness through the chain mediating effect of self-esteem and emotion regulation strategies,and discussed this effect,which is of guiding significance for intervention education of adolescent forgiveness.
