“The reading and discussion of the whole book” is the first learning task group in the 18 task groups in the course content of“General Senior High School Chinese Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition)”,which has caused more discussion in the language field.This paper explores the reading teaching of the whole book with the academic book “Letters on Beauty ”,expounds the reading content,reading value and meaning of the whole book,and tries to study the reading teaching design of the whole book on the basis of thinking about some basic principles of the whole book reading.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part gives a basic definition of the whole book's reading content,and summarizes the current situation of the whole book's reading,the academic whole book's reading and the brief book's reading.The second part: introduces in detail the general value of reading the whole book,especially its unique value in Chinese learning and teaching.The third part: Starting from the reading of the whole book,the author thinks about some principle relation of the whole book reading,including: complete reading and focusing on reading,knowledge reading and instrumental reading,contrast reading and expanding reading.The fourth part: Based on the reading teaching value of the whole book and some basic principles,the author tries to explore the teaching practice of the whole book reading,and designs the content analysis of the book.The innovation of this paper is that,under the premise of combing and summarizing the whole book reading research,it leads to some thinking on the whole book reading teaching principles and puts forward its own viewpoints;in view of the relatively few cases of the whole book reading research and practice in the present stage,combining with the teaching objectives and requirements of the “whole book reading” task group of the general high school Chinese curriculum standard,a complete teaching conception of “whole book reading” is put forward for the teaching practice of “on the brief book ”.
