With the continuous reform in basic education,the education of our country has gradually changed from the traditional exam oriented education to the quality education.Therefore,in teaching,it is not only for students to carry out knowledge teaching,but also for students to carry out ideological method teaching.Among many mathematical ideas,equation thinking plays an important role in students’ understanding of mathematical knowledge and development of mathematical thinking.So it is necessary for us to study the application of equation thinking and the current situation of solving problems.Based on the above background,this paper uses the research methods of questionnaire and interview to study three problems.First,it studies the students’ understanding and application levels of equation thinking methods.Second,it studies what difficulties students will encounter when they use equation thinking to solve problems.Finally,it studies the degree to which teachers implement equation thinking in class.According to the investiga tion and research,the following conclusions are obtained.First of all,the students’ understanding of equation thinking is acceptable as a whole,and the application of equation thinking is not widely understood,which requires continuous learning and improvement.Secondly,there are some difficulties for students to use the idea of equation,the main difficulties are:(1)the establishment of unknown number,the search of equivalent relation,the inadequate grasp of basic knowledge such as the applicatio n of problem reading obstacles;(2)the development of equation method is inhibited by the method of calculation;(3)students can’t think of using the idea of equation to solve problems.At last,the teachers lack of induction and classification and certa in systematisms in the teaching of solving problems with equation thinking method.In view of the above problems,this paper puts forward the following solutions and suggestions: pay attention to the cultivation of students’ basic knowledge of equation and modeling thought,pay attention to the cultivation of students’ ability of knowledge transfer,strengthen the teaching of the connection between known conditions and required conditions,strengthen the education of ideological methods,and strengthen the teaching of students’ reflection and induction.In addition,in the fourth chapter,in view of the teachers’ unsystematic implementation of equation thought,the lack of classified induction teaching,as well as the problems of students,specific teaching exercises cases are given.Through these cases,the purpose is to permeate equation thought to students,improve the ability of solving problems,and provide certain reference and convenience for front-line teachers.
