With the implementation of China's first professional standard for principals,the professional development of principals has attracted more and more attention from scholars.Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and the main contradictions in our society have been transformed into contradictions between the people's increasing needs for a better life and imbalanced and inadequate development.The principals of rural schools in the central and western regions adhere to the main position of rural education.Their professional development level is of great significance to the realization of educational equity and the promotion of urban-rural education integration.Therefore,it is undoubtedly of great practical significance to study the professional development status of this group and truly understand their growth needs.In this study,the principals in rural areas in the central and western regions are used as research objects,and research methods such as literature research and survey research are used.In the survey and research section,the rural principals from 18 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government)in China were surveyed.A total of 200 questionnaires were issued and183 valid questionnaires were selected.Nine interviewees were selected based on the survey.Combine the questionnaire survey part and interview survey part to sort out and analyze the overall situation of the professional development of rural principals in the Midwest.Through the investigation,we found that the professional growth of the rural principals in the Midwest: in terms of professional understanding and professional understanding of the principals: clear career motivation,outstanding education goals,children 's growth,and school goals that meet the requirements of the socialist school;in terms of professional knowledge and professional methods: principal responsibilities Diversified knowledge,limited educational decision-making power;heavy working hours and unreasonable distribution of professional ability and professional behavior,low proportion of contact time with students and parents,shorter time for self-improvement and fewer opportunities for self-development.Based on the survey data and interview results,combined with the characteristics,growth needs and confusion of rural principals in the Midwest,this article puts forward suggestions for improving the professional competence of ruralprincipals in the Midwest:the central government should do a good job of top-level design to ensure investment in education;local governments should introduce outstanding talents and improve supporting facilities;,Improve the training system;social groups create a good atmosphere,build a communication platform;individual level to establish educational ideals,and promote self-development.
