This paper is based on the village of Pugaolaozhai, which has the most concentrated residential facilities in the core scenic spots of the terraced fields in Yuanyang County,Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture,Yunnan.Among the fieldwork, the development of the Inn and the daily life in the village are focused.Analysis changes of the traditional village spaces in both physical and social relation aspect after inns are embedded. And then discuss the influence of tourism development on the terrace protection. The tourist industry of the Pugaolaozhai village began with the first inn in 2005.Until 2013 Yuanyang terrace became a cultural heritage of the world,a large number of foreign businessmen came into the village and lease houses for inn's business.More and more local villagers were involved in the operating the inn.Today, the Inns run by outsiders and the Inns run by the locals show differences in appearance, facilities, prices and services. The development of the inns in Pugaolaozhai is accompanied by the interaction and intimacy between the inn and the villagers. The accommodation, catering and tourism products are inseparable from the Hani culture. The development of the inn's products has led local villagers to have a new understanding of their own culture. In the business process, the inns can not run without local resources.Water resources, land resources and human resources are both important for inn and the daily life of the villagers. As the result, inn and the village are more closely linked. In recent years,a large number of inn houses have gradually formed a settlement near the highway.Pugaolaozhai is physically divided into two parts: the roadside part and the inside part. The villagers changed their awareness of sacred spaces, such as village gate and groves. From the perspective of individual house, the villagers not only want to earn income through rental housing, but also do not want to lose their homes. Therefore, more and more villagers only rent out high floors and the whole family moves to a hidden floor. This new form of space leads to changes in the living space ofvillagers. This form leads to changes in residential spaces. The villagers are divided into two parts by the roadside and the inside the village. They begin to rebuild the social relationship network respectively. In this new process, villagers get different resources.Social capital, including power and kinship, has been effectively used by a small number of villagers to develop the inn, which has brought a lot of profits, and has also led to economic differentiation and contradictions within the village. This differentiation and contradiction manifests itself in the “upper” and “lower” layers of housing and the symbolic power relations between “roadsides” and “inside”.Pugaolaozhai villagers also have stratified social conditions in accordance with economic conditions. The rapid economic change brought about by the inn is the key to causing conflicts and the internal division of the village, but it cannot be denied that the new means of livelihood also brings opportunities for the development of the village.Allowing villagers to participate more in sustainable tourism development is the key to resolving conflicts. The development of tourism is either opportunity or challenge for Yuanyang terraced fields. In the development of tourism industries such as inns,it is important that enhancing community participation, developing the ecotourism in terraced areas and exploring the capitalization of ethnic culture in the tourism industry. It provides new ideas for the development and protection of terraces, and it is also valuable for the sustainable development of tourism in folk villages.
