The Impact Of ICT On Service Trade Scale And Structure

Big trend of global economy development is promoting and developing Service Trade.Global economic integration is deepening,Information and Communication Technology(ICT)is developing rapidly,it has been changing the global economy's mode of division of labor.ICT is bringing significant qualitative change to both of Economy and Trade.Therefore,study ICT and Service Trade together,combine with the big background of "The Belt and Road",is very significant.So far,every country is paying more and more attention and giving comprehensive support to ICT development.China as one developing country,started Service Trade development later than other developed Countries,has comparative weakness in Service Trade Competence and need to optimize Service Trade export structure which help China's Service Trade development can reach a qualitative leap.There is not too much literature research ICT's promoting effect on Service Trade,but all related available literature gets the conclusion that ICT is playing very important role in Service Trade.Whether ICT as an irreplaceable factor,is also playing very significant role in optimizing Service Trade export structure?This paper studies from Service Trade export point of view,through the comparison and analysis of 7 Service Trade Indexes and ICT Industry Status among the United States,the United Kingdom and China,demonstrate the importance of ICT.Then this paper has selected 8 specific Service Trade Departments' exports,Traditional Service Trade and Emerging Service Trade exports and Service Trade exports as explained variables for 14 Countries(Including China,the United States and the United Kingdom),data choosing from year 2000 to 2012,in the meanwhile,choosing GDP,Outward FDI and ICT Index as 3 explanatory variables to set up 11 equations.After regression analysis found that GDP,Outward FDI and ICT Index all have different degrees of positive impact on Service Trade exports and 8 specific Service Trade Departments' exports.ICT Index has comparative significant positive impact on Service Trade exports and the has larger impact on Emerging Service Trade exports than Traditional Service Trade exports.Therefore,China should continue striving to develop ICT to expand Service Trade export,and help achieve the goal of optimizing and upgrading export structure of China's Service Trade.Through analysis and study,we found out ICT is playing one important role in optimizing and upgrading Service Trade export structure,at the end of this paper,give some relevant policy suggestions from Government and Enterprise two perspectives.
