Research On The Spreading Of Sericulture Science And Technology In China In The Late Qing Dynasty(1840-1911AD)

China was the first country in the world to cultivate silkworms and develop silk weaving,archaeological findings suggest that at least in four thousand years ago,sericulture and silk weaving were already significantly developed.By the times of Spring and Autumn Period,the labouring people of our country has accumulated a lot of experience.By the Han dynasty,the Yellow River basin became the centry of China's silkworm industry.By the Song Dynasty,the sericulture industry centry moved towards the south to the Jiangnan region,the sericulture industry in Jiangsu and zhejiang area developed and enjoyed a boom.By the Qing Dynast,affected by the commodity economy,Shandong Jiangsu Zhejiang Sichuan Guangdong province became main producing area of our China's sericulture industry.By the 18 century,the modern science system has been built up,France Italy those european countries set up modern agricultural system,some silkworm disease were solved,sericulture industry in Europe started to rise.After The Meiji restoration,Japan introduced advanced technology and equipments,carried out sericulture education.Traditional sericulture industry in China faced capitalist press and Japanese threats,lost the dominant position in the international market,traditional sericulture production in China cannot meet the needs of overseas market.This thesis is the researeh work on the translating,introducing and spreading of the obroad sericulture science and technology in China during the Period of time from the OPium War to the End of Qing Dynasty.In this thesis,analyzed by sending overseas students,hiring foreign lecturers,translation sericulture books,establishing silkworm schools,introducing machine reeling equipment and other methods,China's traditional silk industry began to change.In the development of national capitalism,the modern silk industry was established in some area.Guangdong and Shanghai have become the most concentrated areas of machine filature because of their unique geographical location.But for a long time,China's silk industry has always been parallel development of machine reeling and manual reeling,the hand-reeled silk supplies the domestic market,machine reel supply for foreign markets.Affected by factors such as ideology,culture and economic system,the sericulture industry in China is not fully modernized,advanced technology and theories introduced from abroad have not been fully spread and utilized at home.But in this process,China's modern agricultural education came to a period of vigorous development,sericulture also trained a large number of professional talents,it laid a certain foundation for the improvement of sericulture industry during the period of the Republic of China.
