The Effects Of Commodity Structures Of The Intermediate Input Imports On Technical Innovations

Since the financial crisis in 2008,China has entered into a new normal of slow growth in the economy.In order to realize the sustainable and healthy development of economy again,it must resort to the technical innovations,which promotes the industrial upgrading,transforms the mode of economic growth,and finally achieve the high quality development of economy.It founds that the intermediate input imports would bring technology diffusion and transmission to the importing country and promote its improvements of technical innovations under the open economic conditions.The intermediate input imports will promote technical innovations,but the effects are the same for those with different commodity structure? To make Chinese intermediate input imports promoting technical innovations work better,this paper is aimed to research the different effects of the commodity structures of Chinese intermediate input imports on technical innovations and promote the rapid development of Chinese technical innovations.In this paper,the Chinese intermediate input imports are classified into 8 types according to the technical complexity.Then,the development trend and characteristics of the commodity structures of Chinese intermediate input imports are analyzed by using the world input-output data.Finally,this paper builds the theoretical model and mechanism which commodity structures of intermediate input imports affects technical innovations and analyzes empirically the effects of commodity structures of Chinese intermediate input imports on technical innovations level based on Chinese province panel data from 2000 to 2014.According to the research methods above,it is found that:(1)The commodity structures of Chinese intermediate input imports is continuously optimized.The intermediate input imports of manufactured goods with other resources,medium-tech and high-tech are growing rapidly,and its proportions of imports is increasing.However,the intermediate input imports of other primary products and manufactured goods with agricultural resources and with low-tech increased slowly and the proportions of its imports declined steadily.(2)The intermediates input imports of resource primary products,manufactured goods with agricultural resources and with low-tech significantly restrain the improving of Chinese technical innovation level,when the intermediate input imports of other primary goods,manufactured goods with other resources and with high-tech significantly promote the improving of Chinese technical innovation level.(3)For the manufactured goods with medium-tech,the intermediate input imports from developed countries have no significant effects on the improving of Chinese technical innovation level while the intermediate input imports from developing countries significantly restrain the improving of Chinese technical innovation level.(4)The effects of the commodity structures of Chinese intermediate input imports on technical innovations in eastern is more significant and prominent than that of the central and western regions.
