Urban space is the carrier of urban social,economic,political and cultural elements.Functional areas formed by various urban activities constitute the basic framework of urban space structure.Along with the development of economy and the improvement of traffic and transport conditions,they constantly change their structural forms and mutual position relations,and show the evolution process and evolution characteristics of urban spatial structure with land use patterns.As an important node city in the core area of The silk road economic belt,urumqi has a special strategic position in the construction of "The Belt and Road Initiative".Discuss "area" under the background of national strategy of urumqi urban space development,to optimize the urumqi city space layout,accelerate the construction of urumqi become green,healthy and harmonious livable modern international city,realize the economic development of urumqi in xinjiang leading and radiation effect,has good reference value.Based on the interpretation of the basic concepts and theories of "The Belt and Road Initiative" and "urban space",this paper first reviews the historical evolution of urban space development in urumqi city,summarizes the law of urban space development in urumqi city,and further analyzes the current situation characteristics and existing problems of urumqi city space development.Secondly,on the basis of clarifying the status and role of urumqi in the construction of "The Belt and Road Initiative",the influence of "The Belt and Road Initiative" strategy on the urban spatial development of urumqi is studied.Finally,the urban development orientation of urumqi is optimized and the urban spatial development strategy and development sequence of urumqi city in the future stage is proposed.Urumqi should optimize its urban function,realize its transformation from"regional central city" to "international city",from "trade and culture center" to"five major centers",strengthen the cooperation and interaction with Urumqi metropolitan circle,optimize the urban spatial structure internally,make clear its urban expansion incremental space from multiple angles.Finally,based on the"service function decomposition strategy" and "production function integration strategy" to formulate different stages of development planning.
