The Impact Of Internationalization On Enterprise Innovation Capacity

With the gradual development of economic globalization,international trade and foreign investment has become the main mode of multinational enterprises to participate in the world market,the internationalization has become the inevitable developing trend of multinational companies.Through the internationalization,enterprises in the allocation of global production and innovation resources,learn foreign advanced technical knowledge and management experience,in order to improve enterprise’s innovation capacity and international competitiveness.Since China’s reform and opening up,Chinese enterprises were involved in the internationalization process in the form of import and export,FDI and OFDI,which promoted the improvement of the national economy.Early Chinese manufacturing is mainly labor-intensive,with lots of cheap Labour,makes China’s rapid development for all countries in the world the "factory" of the enterprise,China become a manufacturing power.However,as the disappearance of the demographic dividend in China and domestic market increasingly saturated,the advantage of China’s manufacturing industry is gradually weakened.In this background,the Chinese government actively promote transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry,and to guide China’s manufacturing industry gradually developed to the direction of technology and capital intensive.Due to the low level of domestic manufacturing technology,the lack of independent innovation ability,so many companies started transnational operation,and active learning overseas advanced technical knowledge and management experience,in order to improve enterprise’s competitiveness.Under this background,the study of Chinese manufacturing internationalization of enterprises,the impact on the enterprise innovation ability is very important.Based on the data of Chinese manufacturing data of listed companies from 2008 to 2016,with the help of a negative binomial regression model,this paper studies the impact of internationalization on enterprise innovation capacity,and exanines the effects of the internal absorptive capacity of enterprise and external investment location on the relationship between internationalization and innovation ability.This paper is divided into the following six parts:The first part is introduction,mainly introduced the research background,theoretical significance and practical significance,main research content and framework arrangement and innovation points and deficiencies of this article.The second part is the literature review,mainly from the internationalization and reverse technology overflow,internationalization and technological progress,internationalization and innovation performance,internationalization and innovation ability of four angles combed the domestic and foreign related research on internationalization.Analysis of internationalization and the enterprise innovation ability of the literature found that previous studies have focused on developed countries enterprises internationalization,and seldom consider absorption capacity and location choice of internationalization and the relationship between enterprise innovation ability.The third part analyzes the current situation of the development from the scale of China’s manufacturing enterprises internationalization,found that locational distribution of Chinese manufacturing enterprise internationalization is not balanced and unbalanced industry distribution.The fourth part is on the basis of theoretical analysis to the impact of internationalization to enterprise innovation ability,put forward the internationalization the hypothesis that has a positive influence on enterprise innovation ability,and the regulation of the relationship is influenced by absorptive capacity and investment location.The fifth part uses negative binomial regression model to test the impact of internationalization to enterprise innovation ability.Through the empirical analysis,this paper get the following conclusion:(1)the degree of internationalization has positive role in promoting the enterprise innovation capacity,the higher the degree of internationalization,the greater the enterprise innovation ability;(2)the internal absorptive capacity of enterprises positively adjusts the relationship of internationalization and innovation ability,enterprises with strong absorptive capacity bring the greater innovation ability measured by patents;(3)the different of the host country brings difference to the effect of the internationalization improving innovation ability,compared with investing in developing countries and districts,enterprises investing in developed countries and districts have a greater impact on their innovation ability through internationalization;The sixth is divided into the paper conclusion and the corresponding policy recommendations to China’s manufacturing enterprises transnational operation.The innovation point of this paper is to examine the degree of the enterprise internationalization,rather than whether "international" on its innovation ability.The previous literature are mostly based on database of Chinese listed companies and the foreign investment enterprises directory match,set the internationalization index for a virtual variables.And further,this paper analyses the impact of the degree of internationalization on its innovation ability.Data is from Orbis global enterprise database owned by Bureau van Dijk database(hereinafter referred to as the BvD),the world famous financial database.This database contains business data of Chinese multinational companies overseas subsidiaries,such as the nationality of a subsidiary,set up time,total assets and so on.At the same time,this paper match BvD with Guotaian Chinese listed companies according to the stock code of multinational companies,find the enterprise innovation index data.In this paper,at the same time considering the adjust action of the absorptive capacity of internal and external investment location of the two kinds of factors on the relationship between internationalization and innovation capacity,enrich the existing international related research.
