Since the implementation of the "Belt and Road" cooperation initiative,China has made great achievements in bilateral trade with countries along the "Belt and Road" and provided new impetus to China's economic growth under the new normal. As a border area of China's opening to the outside world, the level of economic growth has lagged behind other parts of China for a long time.Promoting economic development along the border areas will help to improve the long-term backwardness of economic development in ethnic minority areas along the border, help to further promote the implementation of the "Belt and Road" Initiative initiative, and at the same time,to stabilize national security and promote bilateral economic and trade exchanges with neighboring countries.Important practical significance. There are many reasons for the backwardness of economic development along the border areas. This paper focuses on the special geographical location of the border areas to create a boundary shielding effect on economic development and hinder regional economic growth. As an important issue in the field of international trade and regional economic research, border effect has long been widely concerned by domestic scholars. The border effect will not only hinder the regional economic integration, the development of trade globalization, but also the level of economic development in the administrative boundary areas. The best way to break this border effect is to strengthen communication between regions and vigorously build transportation infrastructure to reduce transportation costs and promote bilateral trade. The "Belt and Road" cooperation initiative also includes the content of the facility, and China Unicom,as the pioneering field of the "Five Links",is an important foundation and priority cooperation area for the "Belt and Road" construction. At the same time,it is also an important support for promoting the economic development of the countries along the "Belt and Road",benefiting the broad masses of the people, and improving the well-being of the region. It is an important support for achieving pragmatic cooperation and mutual benefit.Based on the above status quo and problems, this paper first analyzes the economic development level and the status quo of transportation infrastructure and port trade construction in China's border areas. Then, using the panel data of 114 prefecture-level cities and regions in China along the province from 2003 to 2015,empirical research was conducted.Considering the strong spatial autocorrelation of regional economic growth, the spatial measurement method is used for regression analysis after passing the spatial autocorrelation test. The boundary effect of China's border areas is tested mainly by constructing whether or not along the edge dummy variable. After the test, the impact on urban economic growth and the adjustment effect on the boundary effect are further analyzed by adding traffic infrastructure variables and port trade variables.Subsequently, regional heterogeneity analysis was carried out,and the samples were divided into northeast, northwest, and southwest regions, and the boundary effects of each region and the impact of transportation infrastructure and port trade on economic growth in various regions were examined. Finally, the robustness test is performed by changing the setting method of the spatial weight matrix. This paper's the most main conclusions can be divided into these parts:(1)There is a positive spatial autocorrelation of economic growth in China's border areas, and this spatial agglomeration effect generally shows an increasing trend.(2)The economic growth level of China's border-boundary cities is significantly worse than that of non-boundary cities. There is a significant border effect between China's border areas and neighboring countries. From a regional perspective, the border effect of northeast and northwest China is weaker than that of the southwest.(3)The construction of transportation infrastructure and port trade has a significant positive effect on promoting urban economic growth. At the same time, the construction of transportation infrastructure and port trade has a significant impact on weakening the border effect between China's border areas and neighboring countries.Based on the above conclusions, the following main policy recommendations are proposed:(1)Strengthening the construction of transportation infrastructure in China's border areas. It is necessary to vigorously build conventional traffic infrastructure such as roads, railways, waterways, and aviation. At the same time,it should also increase the construction of border ports based on the special geographical location along the border areas.(2)Enhance economic cooperation and cultural exchanges with neighboring countries. We will strengthen bilateral economic exchanges, implement the "Belt and Road" cooperation initiative, and strengthen cross-border cultural exchanges and exchanges.(3)Formulate their respective border opening policies according to their own characteristics.Due to the degree of economic development in various regions of China and the different development methods,it is necessary to formulate an open-door policy in line with its own development according to the respective characteristics of different regions. The innovation of this paper mainly uses the spatial econometric model to verify the boundary effect of the border areas in China. In the past, the article focusing on the boundary effect is mainly the measure of the inter-provincial boundary effect in China, and the measure of the boundary effect of the borderline. There are few studies. This paper further studies the impact of traffic infrastructure and port trade variables on boundary effects and regional economic growth, enriching the content of the research. At the same time, the differences in the boundary effects of Northeast China,Northwest China and Southwest China and the different influences of transportation infrastructure and port trade on economic growth were tested by sampled regression. The shortcoming of this paper is that the definition of traffic infrastructure variables is not extensive enough, considering only the three factors of border port freight volume, regional road density, and neighboring railway density.
