Due to the rapid development of modern science and technology,especially the information technology and the emergence of global economic integration,the competition in the commercial shopping center industry is becoming increasingly fierce.Modern enterprises have recognized the strategy to use performance management to improve the overall management.Commercial shopping centers are no exception.In order to survive and develop in an increasingly competitive business environment and obtain competitive advantages,the shopping centers must fully take advantage of the modern performance management system.Traditional performance measurement system with the emphasis on financial measurements can no longer satisfy the management requirements of modern shopping centers.Innovation in original shopping centers' performance evaluation system has become an important and urgent task for the current performance management of shopping centers.Focusing on the exploration of the application of key performance indicators in the performance management of commercial shopping centers is of great practical significance,as it has an impact on whether sustainable development of China's commercial shopping-center industry can achieve success in today's severe competition.A thorough systematic analysis of the current situation of human resource management in Fuzhou PL shopping center was completed through a variety of diagnostic methods,such as work analysis,data analysis,questionnaire,personal interview,panel discussion,and Delphi method,etc.Poblems recognized in the performance management and assessment system have severely affected the future develppment of this shopping center in a negative way.Since the establishment of Fuzhou PL shopping center,its performance appraisal methods have been relatively simple for a long time due to the limitation of performance management.Evaluations were vague because they were made through supervisors'impression on their subordinates.Problems existed in the content of the assessment,the setting of assessment indicators,the implementation of assessments,the application of assessment results,and especially the perception of performance assessment concepts.This article provides suggestions on optimizing the performance management and evaluation system of Fuzhou PL shopping center with the purpose to improve its overall performance management.The performance evaluation system should be optimized to meet the requirements of shopping center performance management.This article starts with a brief review on relevant researches about human resource management and performance appraisal theory,and then comes with a highly summarized introduction to the development of performance management in order to provide readers with a clear understanding of performance management.First of all,the introduction of the current situation of the Fuzhou PL shopping center will enable readers to have a clear understanding of the basic profile,development history,strategic focus,current human resource development,organizational structure,position setting,and perf'ormance appraisal system of the shopping center.Secondly,this article thoro ughly analyzes the outstanding problems in the performance appraisal management of Fuzhou PL shopping center,and further explains the importance of optimizing the performance management system of Fuzhou PL shopping center.According to the modern performance management theory system combined with the specific background of this shopping center,this article proposes the plan of optimizing the performance evaluation system of Fuzhou PL shopping center.In order to optimize the performance system at organization and individual level,four concepts should be taken into consideration.First is the scientific design in performance target setting.Second is the focus on performance process monitoring and adjustment in order to create a good communication platform.Third is the design of performance evaluation and feedback mechanism.Last is perfection of effectiveness system of performance incentive system.To improve the overall performance management of shopping centers,performance system should be scientifically reconstructured.This practice provides reference not only to other shopping centers and commercial streets from PL business group,but also to other shopping centers in China.It has a specific practical significance about how to select,develop and use key performance indicators of shopping centers.
