Research On The Influence Of Technological Diversification On Innovation Performance Of Enterprises Under The Perspective Of Open Innovation

With the acceleration of technological changes and the increasing complexity of product development,a wide range of technology base is an important sources for enterprises to build competitive advantages.In particular,innovative enterprises urgently need to increase R&D efficiency and absorptive ability through technological diversification,and capture emerging technology opportunities in time.Therefore,the relationship between technological diversification and innovation performance has also become one of the hot topics in the field of technological innovation management.At present,most scholars study the impact of technological diversification on innovation performance from an internal perspective of enterprises.Although some scholars' studies imply a positive effect of technological diversification on corporate innovation in the context of open innovation,the drawback of these studies is that it has not carefully explored the impact mechanism,but also lacked analysis of the impact of different types of technological diversification and innovation performance(mediate variable),and the dynamic changes in the relationship between them in the context of open innovation(moderator variable).Based on a review of previous scholars,this paper seeks to explore the mechanism of technological diversification's impact on firm's innovation performance based on an open innovation perspective,build a theoretical model that includes mediation effects and regulatory effects,and conduct empirical research using large-scale questionnaire survey methods.Explore how firms can promote the acquisition of external knowledge and the external commercialization of internal technology through technological diversification,and then act on the mechanism of innovation performance improvement,and provide new ideas for the "black box" of the process concerning the influential mechanism of technological diversification on innovation performance.The research problems in this paper mainly include:(1)the effect of technological diversification on innovation performance(ie.,whether the relationship between the two is statistically significant);(2)the way of technological diversification affects innovation performance,that is,whether external knowledge acquisition and external technology commercialization play a mediating role in the relationship between the two parties;(3)The dynamic change of the relationship between technological diversification and innovation performance(i.e.,whether the external technology diversity and relational embeddedness play moderating roles about the degree of relationship that is strong or weak between them).In this paper,by using the data of the questionnaire survey about the samples of Chinese enterprises,the structural equation model and linear regression were used to take empirical analysis.The following conclusions are finally drawn:(1)Based on the difference in knowledge relatedness,different types of technological diversification(related technological diversification and unrelated technological diversification)have a significant positive impact on innovation performance;(2)External knowledge acquisition and external technology commercialization play a partial mediating role in the relationship between related technological diversification,unrelated technological diversification and innovation performance;(3)External technology diversity moderates the relationship that has a significant positive impact between unrelated technological diversification and innovation performance;(4)Relational embeddedness moderates the relationship that has a significant positive impact between related technological diversification and innovation performance.This study has expanded the theoretical system of technological diversification,and it is also a good complement to related research on open innovation,external knowledge acquisition,and external technology commercialization.Moreover,this research is helpful to further study the mechanism of technological diversification impacting innovation performance from the perspective of open innovation,and the empirical conclusion based on the sample of Chinese enterprises also provides more practical management enlightenment for enterprise technological innovation management.
