With the in-depth development of global value chain,a country's export products often contain a large number of foreign components,so it is particularly important to measure the competitiveness of China's manufacturing exports in a more scientific way.Based on the latest data from WIOD in 2016,this paper constructs a new value-added-based Display Comparative Advantage Index(NRCA)to measure and analyze the comparative advantages of different manufacturing sectors in China from 2000 to 2014,and makes an international comparison with the industrial competitiveness of the world's major economies. The study finds that China has significant competitive advantages in labor-intensive manufacturing industry, and a small number of competitive advantages in capital-intensive manufacturing industry and knowledge-technology-intensive manufacturing industry. From the international comparison,China's labor-intensive manufacturing industry is in the dominant position in the major economies. The competitive advantage of capital-intensive and knowledge-intensive manufacturing industry is higher than that of BRICS countries, but lower than that of major developed countries.Based on Porter Diamond Model, this paper makes panel regression analysis of seven explanatory variables from four aspects. The results show that the increase of export volume does not necessarily lead to the improvement of the competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry in the context of value chain.Compared with low value-added products,value-added manufacturing products are more dependent on the domestic market, and more dependent on the industrial scale. At the same time, the expansion of industrial scale and the increase of foreign investment are the most important factors to enhance the international competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry.
