The Analysis On The Development Of Bilateral Trade Between Russia And China

After the collapse of the Soviet Union bilateral trade between Russia and China has advanced to a new level of economic development.From 1992 to 2018,bilateral trade cooperation between Russia and China has attained great results.The bilateral trade cooperation between Russia and China is facing an accelerated development trend.China has become Russia’s main trading partner,while Russia is China’s main energy supplier.In 2018,the volume of trade between Russia and China increased significantly,reaching US$107billion,an increase of 15.1% compared with that in 2017.Governments of both China and Russia are confident that the volume of trade will further increase and trade cooperation between Russia and China will be strengthened.The rapid growth of trade cooperation between Russia and China is a fact that Russia and China complement each other in trade.Both countries are economically complementary in the fields of raw materials for energy sources and electromechanical products.Russia and China have a good foundation for strengthening and deepening trade cooperation.However,compared with other countries,the scale of bilateral trade between Russia and China is relatively small.Russia and China have great potential in bilateral trade,so it is necessary to develop a more rational and effective trade cooperation mechanism.However,bilateral trade cooperation between Russia and China has not yet reached a stable development trend.Throughout the development period,the volume of trade has shown increasing and decreasing tendencies.Therefore,it is extremely urgent to study the further development and existing problems of bilateral trade cooperation between Russia and China.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction.Russia and China have a long history of cooperation in research.At the same time,domestic and foreign scholars have elaborated on the background of this topic and its research significance.The second part is the theoretical basis.It is mainly based on comparative advantage theory,factor endowment theory,national competitive advantage theory and intra-industry trade theory.The third part is the analysis of the current situation of bilateral trade between Russia and China.It is focused on the period of development of trade cooperation between Russia andChina from 1992 to 2018,the analysis of commodity structure and the analysis of trade balance between Russia and China.The fourth part is on the complementarity of Russia and China’s trade structure.The index model is used to construct the comparative advantage and trade complementarity index,and to analyze the bilateral trade complementarity between Russia and China.The fifth part is based on the above research data analysis to analyze the problems of bilateral trade between Russia and China.The sixth part about proposing the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions according to the existing problems.The countermeasures and suggestions mainly include political and economic cooperation between Russia and China,further enrichment of Russian export commodities,establishment of Russia-China free trade zone and formulation of favorable tax policies on products.
