In the process of urbanization in a country or region, not only the resources such as human, capital, technology and services are concentrated together, but also the way people live, produce and organize is greatly affected. The urbanization of developed countries is relatively successful. From their past practice,it can be found that in order to improve the economic level and social status of a country or region, the road of urbanization must be taken.Urbanization can solve the co-existence of modern industry and backward traditional economy, expand the overall consumption demand and speed up economic development. The new urbanization puts the interests of the residents in the first place, and makes the rural residents realize the benefits of urbanization deeply,so as to build the new countryside better.Shanxi Province is a slow urbanization province in central China.Although the proportion of urban population to total population has increased in recent years, its proportion is still about 50%.From the point of view of the whole country, the consumption of all the residents of Shanxi Province, especially the rural residents, has always been at a disadvantage.Because of the coexistence of the modern industrialized economy in the city and the backward traditional economy in the countryside, the response of different residents' consumption level to the change of urbanization level is different. In view of the above reasons, this paper studies the impact of new urbanization on rural residents' consumption in Shanxi Province.First, this paper introduces the research background and significance, the domestic and foreign research summary, the research content and the research method, and points out the innovation and deficiency of the paper. Then it expounds the related theory and influence mechanism of new urbanization and resident consumption, these provide some theoretical guidance for the later analysis.Next, based on the data of Shanxi Province and China from 2000 to 2017,this paper analyzes the current situation and problems of the new urbanization level and of rural residents' consumption in Shanxi Province in detail. Finally, the empirical part analysis the impact of the proportion of urban population to the total population and bus operation on rural residents consumption byusing the two-stage least square method, the main conclusions are as follows:(1)The proportion of urban population to the total population has a positive impact on the level of consumption of rural residents. An increase of 1% in the proportion of urban population to the total population will lead to an increase of 2.641% in per capita disposable income of rural residents. An increase of 1% in the per capita disposable income of rural residents will lead to an increase of 1.259% in per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents.(2)The impact of the number of bus on the level of consumption of rural residents is also positive. An increase of 1% in the number of bus will lead to an increase of 1.054% in the per capita disposable income of rural residents. An increase of 1% in the per capita disposable income of rural residents will lead to an increase of 1.284% in the per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents.
