An Analysis Of The Relevance Between Economic Growth And Tourism Development In Five Northwest Provinces

Under the strategic background of "one belt and one road",the five northwestern provinces,as an important part of the Silk Road Economic Belt,have ushered in an unprecedented opportunity for regional economic development.This area has a vast territory,diverse topography and landforms,a multi-ethnic culture,rich historical and cultural heritage,and extremely rich tourism resources.It is of great practical significance to clarify the relationship between tourism and economy,exploit tourism resources in Northwest China,and promote the coordinated development of regional economy and tourism industry under the current national policy and international background.This paper takes the economic growth level and tourism development level of the five northwest provinces as the research object.Firstly,the relationship between economic growth and tourism development is theoretically analyzed according to the theory of regional economy,tourism economic effect,coupling degree coordination and so on.Then,the relationship is analyzed by introducing the current situation and recent development of tourism and economy in the five provinces of Northwest China.Subsequently,this paper uses two time series data of GDP and total tourism income of Shanxi,Gansu,Qinghai,Ningxia,Xinjiang and whole five provinces in the past 20 years to establish a VAR model for empirical research through stationarity test.Through Granger causality test,next through impulse response function analysis and then through variance decomposition analysis,the influencing mechanism among variables is obtained,and the effect of regional economic level on tourism income is found.The tourism development of the five northwest provinces has a very significant pulling role,and for the vast majority of Northwest provinces,the tourism industry has a certain role in promoting the economy in different periods.Finally,in view of the problems analyzed in the study,this paper puts forward the following policy recommendations for the five northwest provinces:(1)increasing tourism investment and improving infrastructure construction;(2)accelerating the Upgrading of Tourism Products and the Transition of Tourism Structure;(3)grasping regional brand characteristics and increasing publicity efforts;(4)establishing regional tourism cooperation mechanism and improving tourism system management.
