Grain is the foundation of the people's survival. For a long time,du to the domestic food production support policies,China's grain production capacity has improved significantly, and food security situation has improved. However, with the rapid development of urbanization,China's agricultural production resources have been squeezed continually, and the future increase in grain production will be increasingly limited. With the rapid development of China's economy, the residents'demand for food has been increasing, and the consumption structure of food has also changed significantly.China's grain production and demand gap is widening, and grain imports will be normal. The self-sufficiency rate of rice, wheat and maize was declining, and the decline of maize was the most obvious, which brought new challenges to the grain import strategy. With the rapid economic development,China's food structure of residents continued to upgrade, having a great impact on the food consumption. And consumption is an important factor affecting the self-sufficiency rate,so changes in food structure will have a great impact on food self-sufficiency rate. So,how will the food structure of our residents change in the future?how will the change of food structure affect the grain self-sufficiency rate and how the self-sufficiency rate of food security will be adjusted?Answering these questions is of great significance to safeguarding China's food security.Considering that the residents' food structure and grain self-sufficiency rate will change greatly with the economic development, using the China's historical data can not study the above problems accurately when economic developed. So,this paper first compared the food structure of our country with Japan,South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. The study found that Japan,South Korea and China's food structure showed a greater similarity, and the food structure of China,Japan and South Korea were constantly moving to animal food, and the sum of meat and aquatic products consumption and cereal consumption ratio was closer. And there was a big difference between the food structure of the United Kingdom, the United States and China,The food structure of the residents of the United States and the United States was dominated by animal food, while China's food structure was biased towards vegetable food. Then, this paper analyzed the change of food structure in China,Japan and Korea since the 1960s,and forecasted the future consumption of different food based on the arc elasticity of Japan and South Korea, and pointed out that the future of China's food structure may further tend to animal food, and the consumption of meat, milk and aquatic products will continue to show an upward trend. This paper then measured the food structure of Japan and South Korea and analyzed the effects of food structure on food self-sufficiency rate. The study showed that the food structure of Japan and South Korea has a greater negative impact on its grain self-sufficiency rate. Therefore, the future of China's food self-sufficiency rate is likely to be the same with Japan and South Korea, and will show a further downward trend with the upgrading of food structure. In the end, this paper combed the historical evolution of Japan and South Korea's self-sufficiency rate of food security, and pointed out that China could learn from the experience of Japan and South Korea, and import more feed grain. The self-sufficiency rate of feed grain may be lowered accordingly,to improve the comprehensive competitive advantage of China's agriculture.Based on the present analysis, this paper putted forward the corresponding policy recommendations as follow:to improve the grain production capacity of China based on the domestic production;to adjust the grain import strategy, ensure the production of rations, and release the feed grain import moderately;to popularize nutrition knowledge, and to guide residents to consume sciencly.
