Since the reform and opening up,along with the spatial agglomeration of economic activities, the economic gap between China's regions has expanded significantly, and regional coordinated development has increasingly become a major issue for China's development. As one of the earliest provinces in China to implement reform and opening up,Guangdong Province has achieved remarkable results in economic development. However, along with the continuous improvement of economic strength, the problem of regional economic disparity and regional development in Guangdong Province has become increasingly prominent. The economic activities of Guangdong Province are mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone(hereinafter referred to as the Pearl River Delta region). The economic development of the east and west wings and the northern mountainous areas lags far behind the Pearl River Delta region. This paper analyzes the regional economic gap in Guangdong from the perspective of industrial structure, and calculates the Gini coefficient,Williamson's Coefficient and the Theil index for the 21 cities in Guangdong from 2000 to 2017,and uses the Gini coefficient to decompose the regional economic gap and its changes in Guangdong.Use the Theil Index to break down the regional economic gap in Guangdong by region. The research in this paper finds:(1)During the period from 2000 to 2017,the regional economic gap of Guangdong generally presents an inverted u-shaped trend, and the turning point was in 2005.The unbalanced distribution of the secondary industry and the tertiary industry is the main reason for the regional economic gap in Guangdong, and the tertiary industry is gradually rising as the main factor affecting the regional economic gap in Guangdong.(2)The changes in the regional economic gap in Guangdong are mainly structural effects and concentration effects. The latter plays a leading role in the change of the total Gini coefficient, indicating that the non-equilibrium distribution of the secondary and tertiary industries is the most important cause of the regional economic disparity in Guangdong.(3)The regional economic disparity in Guangdong is mainly reflected in the regional disparity, namely the economic gap between the four regions of the Pearl River Delta,East Guangdong,West Guangdong and North Guangdong. At the same time, the regional economic gap needs to be paid attention to,mainly reflected in the economic gap within the Pearl River Delta region.Based on the above analysis of the regional economic disparity in Guangdong from the perspective of industrial structure, this paper proposes that we should narrow down the imbalance of industrial distribution between regions to formulate relevant policies to narrow the regional economic gap in Guangdong.
