Research On The Public Education Expenditure Impact On Urban-Rural Income Gap

With the improvement of China's economic system,the rapid development of the national economy,the increasing comprehensive national strength,along with the people's living standards is also steadily improving.But at the same time,we should not neglect the existence of problems.If the income inequality between urban and rural areas is not improved,it will affect the overall social and economic development of our country.Among the many factors affecting the income gap between urban and rural areas,the research on the impact of public education expenditure is very important.However,the effect of public education expenditure on the income gap between urban and rural residents at different levels and regions is not the same,so this paper focuses on this.Firstly,this paper introduces the research background and the significance of the topic selection,and analyses and describes the literature at home and abroad,and puts forward the theme of rationally adjusting the structure of public education expenditure,and then improving the structure of human capital to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.This paper also makes a multi-angle analysis of the public education expenditure in China from urban and rural,regional and hierarchical levels,which provides a basis for the later research on its impact on urban-rural income gap.In this paper,the production function model is used to derive the model,and the panel data of 30 provinces and municipalities from 2007 to 2016 are selected to analyze the impact of public financial education expenditure on urban-rural income gap.Among them,public education expenditure is divided into higher,secondary and primary education expenditure.Fixed-effect model is used to study the impact of public education expenditure on urban-rural income gap.After that,the impact of education expenditure on urban-rural income gap is studied in different regions.It can be concluded that public education expenditure is negatively correlated with urban-rural income gap.From the level of educational expenditure,increasing expenditure on secondary and primary education will narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas,and increasing expenditure on higher education will widen the income gap between urban and rural areas.Secondly,from a regional perspective,the role of increasing higher education expenditure in Western China is more obvious inexpanding the income gap between urban and rural areas,while increasing primary and secondary education expenditure will narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.For the eastern region,increasing expenditure on primary and higher education will widen the income gap between urban and rural areas,but increasing expenditure on secondary education will narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.The expenditure on public education in the central region also has some effect on narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas.Therefore,if we want to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas,we should pay more attention to the expenditure of primary education in the underdeveloped western regions,and increase the investment of secondary education in the developed eastern regions.Based on this,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions: starting from the supply side to improve the level of education;optimizing the structure of educational expenditure;narrowing the gap between regions in the level of education;and attaching importance to the construction of rural education.
