China and ASEAN countries established a dialogue relationship in 1991.In 2002,they signed the "Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between China and ASEAN".In 2010,China-ASEAN Free Trade Area was established. The bilateral trade between China and ASEAN countries has grown rapidly, and trade relations have become increasingly close. With the promotion of the"Belt and Road" construction and the formation of the ASEAN Community,China-ASEAN interconnection construction faces new historical opportunities and realistic environment. The construction of transportation infrastructure is an important component of infrastructure interconnection and is also a "Belt and Road".The core of cooperation, its development and improvement can enhance trade between countries and promote economic development. This paper first introduces the research background and significance, research methods and frameworks, and sorts out the significance of the interconnection and interoperability of transportation infrastructure and the related literature on the impact of bilateral trade, and expounds the status quo and achievements of the interconnection and intercommunication of transportation infrastructure between China and ASEAN countries, the mechanism of cooperation, and the problems that exist. On this basis, select the panel data of China and ASEAN countries in 2008-2017,select the relevant indicators of transportation infrastructure interconnection, construct the gravity model and the boundary effect gravity model, from the four aspects of railway, highway, port and aviation.Study the impact of transport infrastructure interconnection on bilateral trade, and finally propose corresponding countermeasures based on the analysis results. The research results show that:(1)The promotion effect of transportation infrastructure interconnection on bilateral trade is:sea transportation>road transportation>air transportation, railway transportation has a negative effect on bilateral trade, which is mainly due to the existence of technical standards for railway interconnection. The problem of non-uniformity increases transaction co’sts;(2)the reduction effect of traffic infrastructure interconnection on boundary effects is:sea transportation>air transportation>land transportation;and after considering the boundary effect,ASEAN bordering China For the country, strengthening the construction of land interconnection and exchange can promote bilateral trade more prominently. For ASEAN countries not bordering China, the interconnection of shipping and air transportation is more conducive to promoting bilateral trade. The innovation of this paper is to classify China-ASEAN transportation infrastructure from four aspects:railway, highway, port and aviation, and consider the boundary effect, construct the boundary effect gravity model, and further explore the interconnection of transportation infrastructure and the impact of bilateral trade between China and ASEAN countries.
