With the development of national innovation and transformation, the importance of regional innovation capability has become more and more prominent. The level of innovation has become an important force for a city and even a country to gain a foothold in the international arena. In this context, there are more and more research topics related to innovation.Based on the research on the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group, this thesis analyzes the spatial agglomeration characteristics and evolution rules of innovation activities, and explores its spatial spillover mechanism,in order to provide new ideas for the improvement of the innovation ability of the Yangtze River Delta City Group. In this thesis, firstly,we use space measure,Gini coefficient and spatial trend surface analysis and other spatial measurement tools, and use the patent application amount to explore the spatial distribution characteristics and evolution trend of innovation activities in the Yangtze River Delta City Group. The research results mainly include the following Characteristics:(1)The innovative activities of prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Delta City Group have a highly concentrated geospatial distribution, and this phenomenon becomes more and more obvious with the passage of time.(2)The innovation activities in the developed areas of the eastern Yangtze River Delta City Group show a strong and integrated agglomeration development trend, such as the strong innovation zone centered on Shanghai and centered on Hangzhou, and presents a trend of driving the surrounding cities to rise; The economically underdeveloped areas of the Yangtze River Delta City Group are characterized by a combination of weak and weak innovation activities, such as southwestern Anhui, northern Jiangsu, and southern Zhejiang.Secondly,in order to further verify the spatial agglomeration phenomenon of innovation activities, this thesis uses spatial autocorrelation analysis method to explore the spatial agglomeration and evolution model of the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group. The results show that:(1)the spatial autocorrelation of innovation activities in the Yangtze River Delta City Group is significant.During the observation period, the spatial agglomeration characteristics of the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group experienced a trend of becoming stronger and weaker.(2)The spatial agglomeration of the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group presents the core of the central city as the core of innovation – the spatial distribution pattern of the marginal space, and the spatial and temporal transition of the innovation activities confirms that the spatial agglomeration evolution of the innovation activities presents a path dependence. Finally,in the empirical analysis, three different spatial weight matrix models, such as the adjacent weight matrix, the spatial distance weight matrix and the economic distance spatial weight matrix, are established to evaluate different spatial panel models, and theeconomic distance is obtained by comparison. The spatial Dubin model has the best regression results under the spatial weight matrix. The empirical results show that:(1)Spatial effects are also an important factor affecting the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group.Ignoring the influence of spatial factors on innovation activities will lead to model estimation.deviation.(2)There is a significant positive spatial spillover effect in the innovation activities of the Yangtze River Delta City Group, which indicates that the innovation activities of a certain city in the Yangtze River Delta City Group will be affected by the relevant factors of the characteristics of neighboring or similar innovative activity economies, namely neighboring cities. The promotion of innovation activities will promote the improvement of local innovation activities.(3)There are significant differences in the impact of various innovation factors on innovation activities. The level of foreign direct investment and industrial production has a significant positive effect on the innovation activities of local cities, neighboring cities and urban agglomerations. The improvement of the level of economic development has a significant impact on the innovation activities of local cities, but the innovation activities in neighboring cities have little effect. The level of financial development and the stock of capital capital have contributed to the innovation activities of local cities, but the level of financial development has no significant effect on the innovation activities of neighboring cities and urban agglomerations, while the stock of human capital has a significant negative impact on the innovation activities of neighboring cities and urban agglomerations. To the spillover effect, the level of science and education input has a negative spillover effect on local innovation activities, but it has a positive effect on the innovation activities of neighboring cities and urban agglomerations.Through the above research, this paper proposes policy recommendations to improve the innovation level based on the three aspects of factor driving,space-time configuration and coordinated development, which provides a new idea for the transformation and development of the Yangtze River Delta City Group.
