In recent years,the planting area and yield of Maize in China have been increasing continuously,but at the same time,the stock and import of maize have also been increasing continuously.That is to say,a large amount of maize is still imported from the international market every year while the production of Maize in China is excessive.The emergence of this phenomenon will not only damage farmers' income,but also cause instability in the domestic corn market,and even further damage to China's food security.In recent years,with the continuous improvement of maize varieties,the yield per mu of maize is also increasing.The sharp increase in inventory and import is mainly due to the high cost of domestic corn production,leading to higher prices than imported corn.In order to reduce production costs,corn processing enterprises changed to purchase imported corn.In this case,on the one hand,the state needs to protect the interests of corn growers and food security;on the other hand,it also needs to control the quantity of corn imports to avoid further impact on the domestic market.Therefore,only deepening the reform of agricultural supply side and accelerating the upgrading of the maize industry chain can we continuously enhance the competitiveness of China's maize industry and promote the sustainable development of the maize industry.Based on this special background,this study is based on the data of maize production,circulation,consumption and import in China,and studies the current situation of maize import trade in China.It analyses the causes of the surge in maize import trade in China from both theoretical and empirical aspects,and quantitatively analyses the impact degree and direction of these factors.On the basis of the analysis,it puts forward the Countermeasures for maize import trade.Suggestions on the surge of imports,the protection of China's corn import safety and the balance between supply and demand of corn.
