Research On The Vitality Of Small Farmers In The Process Of Urbanization

The vitality of peasants has always been one of the important research topics concerned by scholars.Starting from their respective disciplines,domestic scholars conduct in-depth studies on the vitality and future fate of peasants from different perspectives.Among them,most scholars are influenced by the Western classic peasants' demise theory,tend to analyze from the general theory,but lack the study of the actual production and life of peasants in the context and process.Based on the background of rapid urbanization development in China.this study focuses on the relationship between urbanization and the vitality of peasants.Taking the peasants of Z village in north China as an example,it uses the method of qualitative research to present the real situation of production and life of peasants from a micro perspective.Based on the existing literature,this paper summarizes the definition of peasant modernity and three core characteristics,and takes this as the framework to examine whether farmers in Z village are peasants.Finally,through the demonstration,it comes to the conclusion that farmers in Z village are peasants.The study found that despite the wave of urbanization and marketization,peasants still have certain vitality and will exist for a long time in the future.However,peasants are also faced with the dilemma of low income and high agricultural costs.Only by organically connecting small farmers with the development of modern agriculture and establishing a wide range of social support system,can they give full play to the vitality of smallholders and realize the goal of agricultural modernization.Although peasants will exist for a long time in the future,they are facing.differentiation with the development of urbanization and modernization.From the experience of Z village,except that some peasents are still peasants,some of them will gather in family farms,including family farmers and hired hands,and some of them will move to towns to realize the transformation of identity and become urban residents.
