The importance of innovation for enterprises is self-evident.Especially in today’s increasingly fierce international competition,the role of innovation is particularly prominent.Many domestic enterprises,on the one hand,are under the external pressure of competition,on the other hand,are in the face of the strong desire for rapid development within the enterprise.So they have embarked on the development path of independent innovation.Since Schumpeter put forward the theory of innovation in 1912,scholars of later generations have done a lot of research around innovation,and studied the factors affecting innovation from various aspects.As the basic beliefs of enterprises,corporate values guide the enterprise’s code of conduct and direction of progress,and have an important impact on enterprise innovation.However,there are few studies from this perspective.Therefore,from the perspective of corporate values,this paper uses empirical research to explore its relationship with corporate innovation,which will be a very meaningful topic.This paper chooses manufacturing companies listed in A shares as research samples for three reasons: first,manufacturing industry plays a decisive role in the national economy;second,most manufacturing companies have been established for a long time and are easy to form values;third,manufacturing companies have large sample size and easy to obtain data.Through descriptive statistical analysis,it is found that sample enterprises have strong universality.Firstly,through various channels,such as enterprise website,annual report and leaders’ speeches,this study collects the expressions of enterprise values,enterprise culture and enterprise spirit from various enterprises,analyses the contents,and extracts 16 enterprise values.Then the value items are coded and assigned.When a value is mentioned in the value expression of an enterprise,the value is assigned to 1,otherwise it is 0.By summing up the scores,the total scores of each enterprise’s values are finally obtained.Firstly,we use SPSS19.0 software to analyze the relationship between the variables,and then make a regression analysis of the total score of corporate values and corporate innovation performance.At the same time,we introduce the variable of long-term orientation to study its intermediary role in the process of the impact of corporate values on corporate innovation performance..It is found that corporate values are positively correlated with innovation performance,and long-term orientation plays a part of intermediary role in the process of the impact of corporate values on innovation performance.Finally,based on the conclusions of the study,it is proposed that enterprises can improve their innovation performance by accurately defining values,implementing value management,and maintaining consistency of words and deeds and long-term orientation.
