The problem of population aging in China is becoming more and more serious, and the number of elderly people is increasing. With the development of science and technology, the advancement of medical standards, the cure rate of diseases, and the survival time of patients with severe diseases become longer, making older and older people more and more disabled. The elderly population is also growing. The limited nursing resources cannot meet the increasing demand for nursing, and the cost of nursing is rising, which greatly stimulates the demand for long-term care insurance for Chinese residents. However, the current long-term care insurance in China mainly focuses on the elderly and has less concern for young and middle-aged people. Therefore, this paper has joined the study of young and middle-aged residents aged 30-59.This paper first reviews the domestic and foreign literatures and explains the current research status of long-term care insurance at home and abroad. Then,a comparative study on the long-term care insurance system at home and abroad was conducted, and the shortcomings of China's system were found. In the empirical part, this paper uses the survey data of the China Insurance Association's 2018 college insurance liability line to conduct a binary logistic regression analysis using SPSS23 statistical software to influence the factors affecting long-term care insurance. It is worth mentioning that due to different survey questions for different age groups, this paper divides Chinese residents into two parts, namely, young and middle-aged residents aged 30-59 and elderly residents over 60 years old.The results show that the same influencing factors have different effects on residents of different ages.Gender has no significant effect on residents aged 30-59,and has significant effects on the elderly over 60 years old.At the same time, different age groups also have their unique influencing factors. The occupational status has a significant impact on the needs of residents aged 30-59,and the number of children has a significant impact on the needs of residents over 60 years old.
