Analysis Of The Bilateral Economic Relations Between Ukraine And China. Why China Is Interested In Ukraine?

The current state of the bilateral economic relations between Ukraine and China includes new geopolitical and economic conditions that significantly affect these relations.At the moment,the situation in the relations of countries is uncertain and both China and Ukraine are in search of ways and forms of implementing further effective economic cooperation.To identify the prospects for international relations between China and Ukraine under the OBOR project,the economic indications of both countries,as well as the relations of countries at the present stage were analyzed in the thesis.It was found that current state of foreign trade cooperation between Ukraine and China is characterized by: the gradual growth of China's importance as a trading partner of Ukraine;fixation of technological asymmetry of foreign trade flows;increasing of Ukraine's dependence on the foreign market from China's demand for raw materials of Ukrainian producers;long-term preservation of the negative balance in foreign trade in most groups of goods.Within the framework of this thesis,several important sectors of bilateral economic relations between countries were also proposed based on an analysis of economic indicators.Thus,the main areas of bilateral cooperation include agriculture,military-technical cooperation,aviation and space,energy,information technology,transport and infrastructure.To investigate the factors which are impacting the trade relationship between China and Ukraine we conducted a regression analysis,that helped us to determine the contributing factors which are currently impacting both export and import between China and Ukraine.Using the Stata Quantitative Software package for the descriptive and econometric analysis,we found that a positive and significant relationship existed between trade and manufacture as well as with exchange rate and RFDI.On the other hand a negative and significant relationship was observed between trade and population density.
