Study On The Sense Of Place Of Residents In The Traditional Marketplace Space Under External Strong Disturbance

Traditional market space refers to the space dominated by commercial and residential functions,which reflects the lifestyle and status of indigenous people,carries regional cultural characteristics,has block form and is rich in local emotions.With the continuous advancement of globalization and urbanization process,traditional market space faces strong external disturbance because of the interior space of big cities has been dramatically reconstructed,its physical space,social structure and civic culture are all changing,which further affects residents' sense of place.This study is based on the people-oriented local turn in the new cultural geography,defines the concept of traditional market space,and summarizes the factors that have a strong disturbance effect on hui community by screening and selecting hui community as the research area.On this basis,we made qualitative research and quantitative measurement on the changes of residents' sense of place in hui community under the influence of external strong disturbance,and then put forward to the countermeasures and suggestions for improving the residents' sense of locality.The main findings are as follows(1)Urban renewal,community empowerment and tourism activities are strong disturbances factors of the traditional market space of hui community.Among them,tourism activities have the strongest disturbance to residents' sense of place,followed by urban renewal,and community empowerment has the weakest influence on hui community residents' sense of place,Many aspects of community rights improvement and urban renewal also effect residents' sense of place focus on the development of tourism activities.The disturbance of tourism activities changes the living space form of hui community,It has obvious spatial differentiation characteristics,make the local identity of the residents living along the street different that is,residents who gain income from tourism activities express strong sense of local identity,while those who do not gain income express dissatisfaction and opposition;Due to its low correlation between the cultural memory of the self and the hui community foreign migrant workers as a return to the production of tourism activities,it does not pay attention to hui community's history and culture,showing a weak "cultural grounding".It forms a geographic boundary between the rich and the poor because of the spatial differentiation of material caused by urban renewal;Unfair social competition makes residents feel lack of identity and negative local emotions.Community empowerment is only manifested by the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce to serve the tourism activities.At present,it only has a greater impact on the two communities of “Huajue Lane” and “Hongbu Street”,so the community empowerment has a very limited impact on residents' sense of place in hui community.(2)Emotional attachment,material attachment,social attachment,emotional identity,material identity and community identity constitute the basic framework of hui community residents' sense of place.The overall mean value of hui community residents' sense of place is 3.62,indicating that they have a strong perception of the market space in which they live.In terms of dimensions,the local attachment and local identity mean(MA=3.68,MB=3.76)are higher than the local sense(M=3.62).Residents believe that tourism activities can not only increase the employment opportunities of residents in the neighborhood,enable hui community residents to solve the livelihood problems and benefit from tourism development,but also enable more people to know and understand hui community,thus enhancing the local residents' sense of place.At the present stage,hui community cannot meet residents' needs in infrastructure,community empowerment,community identity and other aspects,thus reducing local residents' sense of place.(3)The local identity of hui community residents has agree the significant differences on living community and monthly income.The stronger the disturbance of tourism disturbance factors,the higher the residents' income level and the stronger the local identity.Huajuexiang Community is closest to Beiyuanmen Fengqing Street,which has strong disturbance effect.The community's overall local identity score was the highest(M=3.98).The Xiangmiyuan community is far away from Beiyuanmen Fengqing Street and is the least disturbed by tourism activities.The average score of local identity of residents in this community is the lowest(M=3.10).There are significant differences in local attachment monthly income,type of residence,and residence time of residents in hui community.Urban renewal disturbance breaks the general conclusion that the longer residents live time and the stronger local attachment of the residents.(4)We should adhere to People-oriented,respect residents' wishes,and enhance residents' positive sense of place in the protection and utilization of traditional market space.It is necessary to consider the overall development of the city as well as the protection of the spatial form and function of the entire Huifang city when we are planning and policy.Adhere to the principle of gradual and small-scale and organic renewal,reasonable planning should be carried out during the update process,strengthen research on traditional living patterns,innovative residential renovation model,Attach importance to the original residential culture,Maintain the continuity of social networks.We should attach importance to hui community's public living space and strengthen the construction of community infrastructure;Increase community empowerment and promote community participation;Strengthening the experience of tourism culture and updating the tourism mode of Hui community.
