| Based on the prevalence of event and the trend of space research on "event turn",this paper takes the spatial conflict of event venue during the event as a research object.Currently, the existing researches on spatial conflict mostly involve the macro-level objects such as cities and general regions rather than the micro-scale’s,lacking of attention to the non-positive situation of the "short-term" event venue.Due to the characteristic of "time and space concentration",the event venue is different from the general space.According to the particularity of event venue as a micro-scale object, this paper aims to conduct exploratory research on the spatial conflict of event venue based on the perspective of management, including main issues as follows: 1)What are the causes, the manifestation types and the possible evolution process of the spatial conflict of event venue? 2)What are the similarities and differences of the spatial conflict of event venue between the perspective of event non-participants and event assistants? 3)What governance and coordination can be considered? Taking Guangzhou International Lighting Festival as a typical case, this paper comprehensively applies a variety of qualitative research methods such as content analysis used to complete pre-processing operations on various data mainly collected by means of web crawling and interviewing, and grounded theory used to extract the basic conceptual model of the spatial conflict of event venue by three-level coding of the data combining the results of literature review. And then the content of the conceptual model from the perspective of different related parties is further elaborated. On this basis, the relevant governance assumptions are proposed. The following conclusions are mainly obtained: 1)The spatial conflict of event venue is a complex object involving multiple subjects, multiple causes, multiple spaces, and different degrees. The conceptual model of the spatial conflict of event venue is composed of four core categories interacting with each other: manifestation types, causes, cognitive output, and governance coordination, which constitute the evolution process of the spatial conflict of event venue. In general, the spatial conflict of event venue is the spatial conflict between event venue mainly used by event participants and primeval space of city mostly used by event non-participants and event assistants, which involves many factors from internal and external. And it is a "short-term" spatial conflict from latent to perceived stage and then triggering the output cognition of related parties, with lower conflict degree and stronger controllability compared with general spatial conflict.2)The spatial conflict of event venue is not the same from the perspective of event non-participants and event assistants. The former facing with the spatial conflict is mainly related to their experiences, performing mightier, while the latter is more related to their work content, showing a weaker performance.3)There are some differences between the spatial conflict of event venue and the general spatial conflict so that the managers of the event should deal with that differently while governing. While implementing the governance such as rational planning of space and its functions, provision and improvement of facilities and services,it should also focus on improving the accessibility of information exchange between the managers and related parties, strengthening the qualities of relevant personnel and establishing early-warning mechanism as well as developing emergency response measures.Multi-pronged approaches should be taken to enhance the effectiveness of management of the event. |
