Competence Groth Of Local Enterprises:Relying On Domestivc Demand Or Learning-by- Exporting

The sustainable growth of local enterprises' capabilities is the cornerstone of "cultivating world-class enterprises".However,there is a general problem of insufficient growth of Chinese enterprises' capabilities.There are two basic ways to enhance the capabilities of enterprises: "learning-by-exporting" and "domestic demand-induced".Therefore,based on the China's basic national conditions of "breakpoint" of foreign trade advantages and rapid growth of local demand,this paper puts export and domestic demand into the same analytical framework,and explores the effective ways for Chinese local enterprises to seek sustainable growth and high-level competitive advantages.Following the analytical paradigm of "fact-theory-basis",based on the data of 14 representative manufacturing industries in China's industrial enterprise database from 2002 to 2009,this paper constructs the growth indicators of enterprises' capabilities from three aspects: technological capability,expansion capability and profitability,and distinguishes three types of industries: high-tech,medium-tech and low-tech.PSM method is used to verify the impact of export and domestic sales on the growth of local enterprises' capabilities.The main body of this paper consists of three parts: Firstly,by using statistical methods,we compare the differences in the capability growth of local enterprises with different export and domestic marketing modes,and then investigate the characteristics of the capability growth of Chinese local enterprises.Secondly,on the basis of systematically collating the relevant theoretical literature,we summarize the micro-mechanism of "learning-by-exporting" and "domestic demand induced" to improve the capability of local enterprises,and clarify the intrinsic relationship between "learning-by-exporting" and "domestic demand-induced" under the background of current international trade and domestic market.Finally,through empirical analysis,this paper examines the causal relationship between the export or selling internally and the growth of enterprises' capabilities,and compares the differences between "learning-by-exporting" and "domestic demand-induced" effects.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: Firstly,Chinese local enterprises have not shown the "learning-by-exporting" effect of capability growth on the whole,among which,only the export behavior of high-tech enterprises has a certain promotion on their technological capability and expansion capability growth.Secondly,domestic sales can promote the capability growth of export enterprises from different technology-intensive.Therefore,under the "double structure blockade" of market and demand from developed countries,local enterprises relying on domestic demand can not only form an autonomous mechanism of domestic demand leading to capacity improvement,but also incorporate "learning-by-exporting" into the autonomous system of enterprises' capabilities enhancement,so as to realize the sustainable growth of local enterprises' capabilities.Under the background of the current changing international trade situation and the expansion and upgrading of domestic market,this paper studies the difference of the role of "learning-by-exporting" and "domestic demand-induced" to the local enterprises,aiming at emphasizing that the Chinese local enterprises can not only rely on domestic demand to form an autonomous mechanism to enhance their capabilities,but also integrate "learning-by-exporting" into the autonomous mechanism,so as to realize the dynamic improvement of their capabilities.This basic idea is highly in line with General Secretary Xi Jinping's important idea of "coordinating the domestic and international overall situation" and the key task of "promoting the formation of a strong domestic market".It has certain value of the times,and has important reference significance for promoting effectively enhance of the local enterprises' capabilities and "cultivating world-class enterprises".
