A Study On The Boundary Conditions Of The Relationship Between Technology Management And Firm Performance:An Exploration Based On Meta-analysis

With the rapid advancement of science and technology and the strategy of building a strong country with science and technology,technology management plays an increasingly important role in improving the technological capabilities,innovation capabilities and firm performance.The study of the relationship between technology management and firm performance has gradually become the core in the field of technology management.Up to now,scholars have accumulated a wealth of empirical studies,but most are carried out under different research situations.Meta-analysis is a research method for re-statistical analysis of existing empirical studies to eliminate statistical biases and identify potential regulatory variables.This paper applies metaanalysis method to the exploration of the relationship between technology management and firm performance.Screening empirical research on technology management and firm performance in bibliographic database home and abroad will be performed.Perform data coding and analysis,expecting a more universal conclusion about the relationship between technology management and firm performance will be obtained and to provide direction for scholars to study in the future,at the same time,to provide advice and reference for firm management.In this article,Searching 199 related researches in the past 30 years in major Chinese and English databases,journals,and excellent master's and doctoral thesis with the key words of “technical management” and “firm performance” are implemented.After literatures screening and data coding,a total of 137 references which can not be used to go on the research of this topic are excluded,and meta-analysis researches with a total of 62 literatures including 26 Chinese articles and 36 English articles are collected.The study included a total of 95 independent study samples with sample size of 32,328.By sorting out and analyzing data and literature,the research contents of this topic is determined.First,the relevance between technology management and firm performance will be studied.Then,taking three situational factors of cultural background,the development degree of a country,study year and two method factors of performance measurement,data attribute as the adjustment variables,further explore the influence of the above variables on the relationship between technology management and firm performance.In the study,cultural background is divided into five dimensions with uncertainty avoidance,power distance,collectivism or individualism,masculinity or femininity and short-term orientation or long-term orientation.The results show that the technology management and firm performance have a moderate degree of positive correlation,while cultural background,the development degree of a country,study year,performance measurement and data attribute have played the varying degree of regulation on the relationship between technology management and firm performance: among the five dimensions of cultural background,power distance,collectivism and long-term orientation positive regulate the relationship above.The regulation of uncertainty avoidance and masculinity/femininity is not significant.The development degree of a country and study year negative regulate the relationship above.Finally,based on the research results,the countermeasures and suggestions for adjusting the relationship between different potential variables are proposed.
