A Research Of FEDEX's Logistics Distribution Based On Mobile Logistics Centers

With the advance of economic globalization,more frequent trades among countries in the world highlight the increasing significance of the international logistics distribution,which illustrates the trend of higher demands on the international logistics.Naturally,the international logistics enterprises are required to enhance their service quality so as to meet their customers' needs.In the chain of international logistics transportation,logistics distribution is considered the key ring.After all,it involves the selection of place of logistics center,the planning of vehicle routing,and other issues like that,which account for the highest cost in the whole chain.Optimize logistics distribution mode and the process are the urgent problems to be solved of the third party logistics enterprise.In the process of logistics distribution,the FedEx Express adopts the Milk-run principle.The large trucks are utilized as mobile logistic centers.And one or several places of acceptance and delivery in one district are established,making it unnecessary for every delivery vehicle returning to the site.These measures contribute to cost reduction and high efficiency of delivery.In this paper,the Milk-run principle and the functions of logistic center will be introduced first.And then,in order to optimize the delivery cost and time,a mathematic model is designed based on a real distribution site,which is used to count how many places of acceptance and delivery to be in need and where to establish them,and so on.In the end,data will be collected to test the model,and meantime to polish it.In this paper,through a series of optimization measures,make the FEDEX import transit vehicles half an hour early,on the day of import goods release increased by 10%,and in preventing the goods damaged,missing,operation of dangerous goods is given as specific operational guidelines,and achieved good results.On the logistics distribution scheme design,finally confirmed by calculation the optimal solution is to set two intersect site,it save 13% on traffic cost and 48 minutes ahead of schedule of the delivery time.This paper design a new logistics distribution mode,not only can save cost and improve the quality of service,can bring the whole logistics industry some successful experience and draw lessons from.
