| With the transformation of economic development mode and the improvement of scientific and technological innovation capabilities,exploring new roads for regional economic development has gradually become an important topic in the study of industrial evolution.Avoiding the regional industrial structure succession path locking and realizing the breakthrough of the inherent resource limitation is of great significance to the regional industrial transformation and upgrading.The potential of local industry development is closely related to the ability of local production,absorption and application of knowledge,and knowledge can overflow across industries under appropriate cognitive distances and promote the sustainable development of regional industries.Evolutionary economic geography has studied the evolution of regional industries as an endogenous growth process in which related industries are derived from existing industries in the region.Research suggests using “technology relatedness” to measure cognitive distances between different industries.The manufacturing industry plays an important role in the development of regional economy,and it exerts a strong chain effect in the industrial chain through vertical and horizontal linkages.Therefore,exploring the structural succession of regional manufacturing industry from the perspective of technology relatedness is of great significance to the regional economic transformation and development.This paper focuses on the impact of technology relatedness on regional industrial structure succession.First of all,to clarify the theoretical relationship between technology relatedness and industrial structure succession,and put forward the hypothesis that the region tends to develop industries with strong technology relatedness to the local industrial structure.The technology relatedness will significantly affect the regional industrial structure succession,and the succession process performance.And the succession process shows certain path dependence characteristics.Secondly,based on the 2003-2013 manufacturing enterprise data,to measure the relatedness strength of technology and the manufacturing structure adjustment index,and introduce the structural succession process of industrial entry,industry in place and industry exit,and summarize relevant characteristics.Thirdly,the panel regression model is constructed to verify the impact of technology relatedness on the regional industrial structure succession.At the same time,the interaction items of technology association are introduced into the model to explore the possible adjustment effects of technology relatedness.Through analysis,the conclusions mainly include the following four aspects:(1)The intensity of technology relatedness between industries significantly affects the regional industrial structure succession,which is manifested in significantly improving the ability of new industries to enter and the continued survival of the industry,and reducing the probability of industrial exit.The structural succession of regional manufacturing industry has certain path dependence characteristics.(2)The effects of specialized economy,diversified economy,city scale and industrial scale on technology relatedness have different degrees of adjustment effects.(3)There are fewer strong technology-related industries in heavy industry with less industrial development paths,and structural succession methods are relatively fixed.There are a large number of weakly related industries in the light industry with many industrial structure derivatives,and there is a certain randomness.(4)The structural succession of cities in inland areas is greatly affected by the entry and exit of industries,and the cities in coastal areas are mainly affected by the incumbent industries.In the future,I hope to further study the technology relatedness issues in the upgrading of the manufacturing structure of typical cities in the Yangtze River Delta region based on the new method of technology relatedness measurement. |
