Regional economic development has always been an important issue of economic geography,and urban agglomeration,as an important regional unit of regional development,has become the focus of academia.With the rapid development of science and technology,the complexity and uncertainty of technological innovation activities are increasing,collaborative innovation has become a necessary means to improve the overall competitiveness of urban agglomerations.The essence of collaborative innovation is the interaction of technological exchange and knowledge sharing among the innovation subjects,which has distinct network characteristics.It is scientific and applicable to apply the research method of regional innovation network which is often used in economic geography to the research of regional collaborative innovation.The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is the core area in China's social and economic development and the leading area in high-tech development,the improvement of the synergy degree of its innovation system will greatly promote the regional economic integration process and drive the economic development of surrounding areas and even the whole country.Under the background that the “Yangtze River Delta integration” has risen to the national strategy,it is necessary to study the collaborative innovation process of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.Based on this,this paper firstly constructs the innovation network of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration through the joint application of invention patent data between cities,and analyzes its overall pattern and basic structural characteristics.And then further explores the group phenomenon within the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration through the cohesion subgroup analysis model.To find the core-edge zone of regional collaborative innovation development.And finally measure the knowledge bases of different cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration which go through the innovation network,through the knowledge complexity calculation model in order to reveal the knowledge base synergy behind the regional collaborative innovation process,and clarify the breakthrough point for guiding the regional collaborative innovation to high quality development in the future.The main research findings are as follows:(1)The collaborative innovation network of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration presents a small world network structure,with strong regional knowledge mobility and low risk of regional locking.In terms of spatial pattern,there are east-west differences in regional collaborative innovation,which are embodied in the overall improvement of the eastern synergy and the polarization of the western synergy.In terms of collaborative innovation mode,the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has realized the transformation from an isolated pattern to a comprehensive pattern,forming a “Z”-shaped pattern that expands outward with the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei-Hangzhou-Ningbo development belt as an axis.(2)The province is the basic collaborative innovation unit of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.In terms of the leading role of provincial capital in collaborative innovation,Nanjing is stronger than Hangzhou and Hangzhou is stronger than Hefei.In general,the core area leading the collaborative innovation development of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is always within the scope of Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Shanghai in space with Shanghai being the center,and show a trend of moving from south to north.Most cities in Anhui,except Hefei,are in the marginal zone of regional collaborative innovation.(3)Shanghai,Nanjing,Hangzhou and Ningbo are the innovative highlands that lead the development of science and technology innovation in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.The rest of the cities except Hefei in Anhui Province are innovation basins of the region.The innovation capabilities of the other cities are less correlated with the level of knowledge involved in the collaborative innovation network which means the cities have not give the most advantage to the exchange and cooperation of technical knowledge in the region.It is necessary to strengthen the integration of innovation elements in the region from the policy level in order to promote the collaborative innovation of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration towards a higher quality development.
