A Study Of Development Of Zhujiang River Delta Urban Agglomerations Competitiveness

Urban agglomerations have become the basic unit among the regional and internetional competition, with the continually developing of globalize and knoeledged-based economy. On one side, urban agglomerations gradually enhance the interdependece between cities; but on the other side, urban agglomerations also drive competition among countries becoming among cities and regions, and intensify the competition between cities. It has formed ten major urban agglomerations in China. Yangtze River Delta and Zhujiang River Delta, which are usually compared by people, are the toppest two of the ten major urban agglomerations. As being the first urban agglomerations in 1990's, Zhujiang River Delta urban agglomerations was replaced by Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations after 2000. Under this background, this paper takes the Zhujiang River Delta urban agglomerations as the study region. Firstly, comparing with the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations, the paper analysises the comparative advantages and disadvantages held by Zhujiang River Delta urban agglomerations, and points out the problems Zhujiang River Delta urban agglomerations need to improve and upgrate. Furthe, this paper builds up the index system of the urban agglomerations competitiveness, evaluates the scores of Zhujiang River Delta and Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations by way of level analysis, finds out the shortages of Zhujiang River Delta urban agglomerations. In the end, the paper advances corresponding countermeasure suggestions on the basis of the above analysis.
