An Empirical Study On The Coordinated Development Of China’s Regional Online Retail And Express Delivery Industry

In recent years,as an important part of the tertiary industry,the online retail and express delivery industries have gradually become new economic growth points.As the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain,there are dynamic relationships of mutual synergy,but the coordinated development between the two industries development research is still in the early stage of exploration.In previous studies,the measurement of the degree of coordination between the online retail industry and the express delivery industry was mostly based on a national perspective.The proposed countermeasures were based on a national perspective.However,for a long time,there has been a problem of uneven development between regions in China.The gap between the online retail industry and the express delivery industry in various regions is wide,and the coordination relationship between the two cannot be accurately described from a national perspective.Based on this,this paper divides China into four regions: eastern,central,western and northeast.The collaborative relationship between online retail and express delivery industry between different regions and within each region was studied,and corresponding countermeasures were proposed for different regions.From the perspective of industrial coordinated development,this paper adopts the system coupling theory.Firstly,it constructs the evaluation indexes of the online retail subsystem and the express delivery subsystem from the three dimensions of industrial environment,industrial capability and industrial performance,and uses the cluster-gray correlation method to select resident per capita disposable income,Internet broadband access port,online retail sales and Internet penetration rate to characterize the online retail system,using total length of postal route,express delivery volume,per capita express usage,and postal business outlets to characterize the express delivery system.Secondly,a coupled coordination model of collaborative development between online retail and express delivery industry was established.The panel data of 31 provinces from 2014 to 2017 were used as samples to calculate the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree of each province and region.From the perspective of the combination of "regional horizontal" and "temporal vertical",the status quo and causes of the coordinated development of online retail and express delivery industry are analyzed.The research conclusion is:(1)China’s online retail industry and express delivery industry have high coupling,but the coupling coordination degree is low.The two industries have close interactions,but the coordinated development is not good overall.At the same time,there is a large regional difference in the collaborative development of online retail industry and express delivery industry.The imbalance in the western region is the most prominent.The coupling degree of the two industries is stronger in the eastern region than in the central region,the central region is stronger than the northeast region,and the northeast region is slightly stronger than the western region.(2)There are differences in the reasons for the imbalance of cooperation in various regions.The development of express delivery industry in the east,central and west regions lags behind the online retail industry;the development of online retail industry in the northeast region lags behind the express delivery industry.(3)China’s online retail industry and express delivery industry have formed a coordinated development situation in a few provinces.At the same time,it is found that there is a positive correlation between the collaborative strength of online retail and express delivery industry in different provinces and the development level of their own.
