Case Study On Flexibility Transformation Of Panasonic Appliances Cold Chain (Dalian)

With the rapid development of information technology and the continuous improvement of people's living standard,increasingly there is an urgent demand for product diversification and personalization.The traditional manufacturing production management modelis facing great challenges.In order to win market share and gain market competitiveness,manufacturing enterprises must accommodate the personalized styles and function requirements from clients,and meet the demand for multi-variety and small-batch production from the market.This requires that enterprises possess flexible ability to adjust to productvariety and production quickly and flexibly.Therefore,the flexibility transformation of manufacturing enterprises is imperative.However,there are few researches on how to effectively respond to market demand changes and make flexible changes accordingly.Therefore,it is very important to discuss the key factors and basic processes of the flexibility transformation of manufacturing enterprises in China.Based on the organizational flexibility and organizational transformation related theories with Panasonic Appliances Cold Chain(Dalian)as the case,the study focuses on flexibility transformation problems under the context of market demand change.This paper introduces the basic information of the case enterprise and the background of flexibility transformation,then identifies potential problems in product development and design,procurement,production and human resource.Based on the existing theories,the paper analyzes these problems from four aspects: design flexibility,supply chain flexibility,production flexibility and organizational flexibility.Finally,this study provides the implementation plan of the enterprise flexibility transformation and puts forward the corresponding implementation safeguard measure.This study is useful for Panasonic Appliances Cold Chain(Dalian)to achieve flexibility transformation,meanwhile offers managerial implications for Chinese manufacturing enterprises to effectively promote flexibility transformation and improve the capacity of rapid response to clients' demand change.
