| Miscellaneous grains, also known as small miscellaneous grains, generally refer to a variety of grain and bean crops with short growth cycle, special planting methods and strong regional planting, mainly including mung beans, sorghum, millet, red beans, oats, buckwheat, kidney beans and so on.Miscellaneous grains have the characteristics of wide distribution, good quality and many varieties in our country.China has a long history of miscellaneous grains cultivation. With the abolition of temporary maize storage policy and the reform of agricultural supply side, vigorous development of miscellaneous grain industry is of great benefit to optimizing agricultural planting structure and improving agricultural ecological environment. With the improvement of people’s living standards and the upgrading of consumption structure, the demand for miscellaneous grains is increasing day by day.The supply of miscellaneous grains exceeds the demand. The selling price of miscellaneous grains keeps improving. It provides a broad market for the development of miscellaneous grains industry and greatly improves the enthusiasm of farmers to grow miscellaneous grains. This paper takes Jilin Province as an example, and combines the macro data of the Planting Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture to analyze the increasing and decreasing trends of the main crops planted in Jilin Province from 2005 to 2016.This paper attempts to analyze the cost-benefit changes of main miscellaneous crops in Jilin Province based on the survey data of 196 households in major miscellaneous grain growing areas in Jilin Province through household-to-household questionnaires.Taking mung bean as an example, this paper uses multiple linear regression analysis to analyze farmers’ miscellaneous grain planting behavior and its influencing factors in Jilin Province, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve farmers’ miscellaneous grain planting behavior in Jilin Province. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Mung beans, sorghum and millet are the main crops in Jilin Province. They are mainly concentrated in the Sandy Hills and saline-alkali areas where the natural conditions of Songyuan City and Baicheng City in Western Jilin Province are relatively poor.(2)From 2005 to 2016,the planting area, yield and unit yield of main miscellaneous crops fluctuated greatly in Jilin Province.Especially after the implementation of the temporary Maize Storage Policy in 2008,the price of maize rose, the enthusiasm of farmers to grow maize increased, the planting area of maize expanded, and the planting area of miscellaneous grains maintained at a relatively low level. In the late period of the implementation of the temporary Maize Storage policy, due to factors such as yield and cost, the income of farmers planting maize in Jilin Province declined. From 2015 to 2016,the sown area of main miscellaneous grain crops in Jilin Province showed a small rebound.(3)The effect of the gender of peasant household, the total annual income of the household, and the selling price of mung beans in the previous year,on the area of mung beans planted by the peasant household was positive and significant, and the same direction was the same as expected. The effect of the age of peasant households, the number of migrant workers, the production cost of mungbean planting, and the sale price of competitive crops corn on the area of mung beans planted by the peasant household was negative and significant, and the direction was the same as expected. The effect of farmers’ education level on the planting area of mungbean is was negative and contrary to the expected direction;the effect of land rent price on the planting area of mungbean was positive and significant, and contrary to the expected direction.Because mung bean in Jilin Province is a representative crop of miscellaneous grain, the area of other miscellaneous grain crops planted by farmers is also affected by these factors. |
