With the development of economic globalization,those small and medium enterprises in China are being faced with a more and more crucial competition situation.When the large foreign enterprises are approaching,large domestic enterprises are also developing strongly.At the same time,they are also facing a series of problems,including rising prices,inflation and so on.On the other hand,customer demand is tending to be customized more and more,consumption trend tends to be short-lived,labor and raw material costs continue to rise and so on.All these factors make the survival and development of small and medium enterprises more and more difficult.Therefore,if the small and medium enterprises want to survive and develop in the fierce competition,they must break away from the original business management mode and become more efficient in management.Through new management concepts and methodologies they can achieve higher-level management to improve quality,cost as well as delivery time,and then enhance their sustainable development ability.In general,problems involved in those small and medium enterprises in China include low management level and low production efficiency.For many small and medium enterprises,the current situation of excessive inventory overstock,liquidity occupation,unstable product delivery time,and unstable product quality have threatened the survival and development of small and medium enterprises.The lean management model has received attention and learning from Toyota's outstanding business performance for many years,and has become a highly respected management method in manufacturing around the world.The core of lean management is “to eliminate waste(MUDA)” through continuous improvement based on the production and supply methods of JUST IN TIME and JIDOKA.The introduction of lean management can comprehensively compensate for the above-mentioned unfavorable factors and solve many problems faced by small and medium enterprises.The core of lean management is to continuously eliminate all ineffective labor and waste,aiming at minimizing the occupation of resources and thus reduce the operation and management costs of enterprises.By continuously reducing costs,improve the competitiveness of enterprises and ensure that enterprises maintain their advantages in market competition.Its focus is on cost management,quality management,and shortening process cycle time,which is in line with the actual needs of small and medium enterprises.This paper starts with the essential research of lean management,and based on the analysis of the management status of SMEs and the value and problems of lean management applications,this paper proposes the influencing factors of successful application of lean management for SMEs,including the establishment of learning organizations,full participation in improvement,strong support at the highest level of the enterprise,selection of appropriate tools and methods,and sound process management and evaluation system.According to the characteristics of SMEs and the above influencing factors,the lean management plan and general mode suitable for SMEs are designed.It is pointed out that SMEs need to develop a lean improvement project linked to the company's operational objectives on the basis of establishing a learning organization and 5S management,and carry out lean management in a step-by-step manner according to certain steps.Moreover,in implementing lean management,we must first understand that lean management is not a simple tool method,but a management philosophy using the JIT and JIDOKA as the backbone and continuous elimination of waste and cost reduction.SMEs must find out the appropriate entry points based on their own characteristics and adapt to local conditions.At the same time,this paper uses the theory to connect with the actual way,introduces the case of H company,and demonstrates the scheme and model proposed in this paper by demonstrating the scheme of the case company introduction and application of lean management,the content and results of lean management project practice.It also further validates the applicability of lean management to SMEs,and hopes to provide reference for SMEs to implement lean management and improve management level.
