Research On The Impact Of Producer Services Import On The International Competitiveness Of China's Manufacturing Industry

Since 40 years of reform and opening up,China's manufacturing industry has become the foundation and pillar of China's nation economy.The total output of the manufacturing industry surpassed the United States for the first time in 2013,and has maintained the leading level since then.However,in recent years,due to the previous extensive growth mode,China's manufacturing industry has experienced problems such as overcapacity and low efficiency.At the same time,with the promotion of "re-industrialization" in developed countries,China's traditional development model can no longer meet the needs of fierce international competition,and the overall competitive advantage of manufacturing industry has declined.There is limited space to rely on the original resource and cost advantage,it needs more advanced production factors-input of producer services.Through the import of producer services,it not only drives the development of domestic industry,but also provides more opportunities for the improvement of the competitiveness of the China's manufacturing industry.On the basis of reviewing domestic and foreign scholars' literature research,the study explores the mechanism of the impact of producer services imports on the international competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry.Then the article describes the current situation of the scale and structure of producer services import,the integration status between two industries.It used Feenstra and Hanson's model to measure the import of producer services in manufacturing industries.And then according to the UNComtrade Database,the manufactured products were classified with the manufacturing industry of the GB/T 4754-2017,thus calculate the international competitiveness index of the manufacturing industry.On the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical research,from the industry perspective,the article uses the multivariate regression analysis model to test the impact of producer services import on the competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry.Research results indicate that:first,producer services import can improve the international competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry.It has the largest effect on capital-intensive manufacturing industry.Second,the level of human capital has a more significant role in improving the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry,which exceeds the other control variables such as trade openness,manufacturing r&d investment,etc.The accumulation of human capital will accelerate the integration of producer services and manufacturing,and play a role in optimizing the allocation of resources.Finally,the author puts forward five policy suggestion based on previous analyses.First,determine a reasonable liberalization level of producer services trade.Second,optimize the import structure of producer services constantly.Third,strengthen the input level of human capital and knowledge capital into producer services.Fourth,focus on the development level of China's manufacturing.Fifth,promote the interation of producer services and manufacturing industry.
