Research On The Impact Of Producer Service Import On The Upgrading Of Manufacturing Industry In China

Since the reform and opening up,relying on the advantages of low-cost labor and resources,China has participated in the international division of labor from the middle and low-end manufacturing industry embedded in the global value chain.The development of manufacturing industry has made remarkable achievements and laid a solid foundation for economic and social development.However,in the new situation of profound changes in the domestic and international environment,the development of China's manufacturing industry still faces the problems of insufficient innovation capacity,high dependence on core components,structural conflicts,gradual decline of low-cost advantages,low product technology content,and there is still a gap between developed countries.At present,China's economic development mode has changed from high-speed growth to high-quality development,and industrial transformation and upgrading is the key to high-quality development,which requires the industrial development from low added value to high added value,high pollution and high energy consumption to low pollution and low energy consumption,as well as extensive to intensive transformation and upgrading.How to adapt to and lead high-quality economic development is the logic of current and future economic development.The fourth session of the 19 th CPC Central Committee has put forward that we should continue to promote high-quality economic development,focus on building a high-level open economy,implement a wider range,wider fields and deeper level of comprehensive opening-up,and continue to promote the expansion of manufacturing,service industry and agriculture.The proposal of this major measure is to promote the development of China's service trade,especially the import of productive services,and the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry is an important measure to promote high-quality development.There is no doubt that producer services have the characteristics of strong specialization and high knowledge intensity,which run through many links of national economic production activities.In the process of service industry development in China,although producer service industry has the characteristics of great vitality and fastest growth rate,and its growth rate even exceeds that of manufacturing industry,there is still a large gap compared with developed countries,facing problems such as low level,prominent structural contradictions,etc.,and its contribution to national economic growth is still limited.It is urgent to promote the upgrading level of China's manufacturing industry and enhance the advantages of high-quality economic development by expanding the import trade of producerservices.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study how to promote the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry by expanding the import trade of producer services,so as to enhance and lead the advantages of high-quality economic development.On the basis of summarizing the definition of producer services,producer services trade and manufacturing upgrading in the existing literature,this paper focuses on the theoretical mechanism of producer services import trade affecting manufacturing upgrading,which also means that it focuses on how producer services import trade affects manufacturing upgrading.Based on this,this paper puts forward research hypotheses and builds mathematical models.The model describes whether there is an internal functional relationship between producer services import trade and manufacturing upgrading.On this basis,based on the provincial panel data and industry panel data,this paper analyzes the time sequence characteristics and facts of producer services import trade and manufacturing industry upgrading;based on the perspective of upgrading between manufacturing industries,upgrading within manufacturing industry and upgrading of manufacturing value chain,this paper sets the measurement test model and combines the static panel estimation,dynamic GMM Estimation and threshold effect inspection Empirical regression model empirically examines the impact of producer services import trade on the upgrading of manufacturing industry,and uses the intermediary effect method to verify the way in which producer services import trade affects the upgrading of manufacturing industry,and draws a series of useful conclusions,and accordingly puts forward targeted policy recommendations.The main conclusions are as follows: First,the overall scale and structure of producer services import trade have fluctuating time series characteristics,and the upgrading level of manufacturing industry has fluctuating trend,and there are industry and regional differences in this time series characteristics.Second,producer services import trade does contribute to the upgrading level of manufacturing industry,and the upgrading effect is obvious.Third,the import trade of producer services does contribute to the upgrading level of manufacturing industry,and this upgrading effect is realized by many ways such as scale economy effect,competition effect,technology spillover effect and so on.The main innovations of this paper are as follows: First,expand the research horizon.Based on the perspective of upgrading between manufacturing industries,upgrading within manufacturing industries and upgrading of manufacturing value chain,this paper constructs the overall upgrading index of manufacturing industrial structure,the upgrading index of manufacturing industrial structure,the internal transformation index of manufacturing industrial structure and the technical complexity index of manufacturing export,andsystematically examines the progress of producer services from the industrial and regional levels The impact of export trade on the upgrading of manufacturing industry enriches and expands the research perspective of the impact of producer services import trade on the upgrading of manufacturing industry.Second,it extends the research content.This paper comprehensively and systematically examines the impact of producer services import trade on manufacturing upgrading under cross-border delivery,and the impact of producer services FDI on manufacturing upgrading under commercial existence,extending the research content of producer services import trade on manufacturing upgrading.Third,it enriches the empirical content.This paper discusses theoretically that producer services import affects the upgrading of manufacturing industry through many ways,such as scale economy effect,competition effect,technology spillover effect,etc.,and verifies whether producer services import affects the upgrading of manufacturing industry through many ways,such as regulation economy effect,competition effect,technology spillover effect,etc.,based on the actual data and the method of intermediary effect.
