With the continuous development and popularization of the Internet, countries and regions are paying more and more attention to the digital development and"Internet plus" construction. The Internet platform economy has gradually become the key to measure the level of regional development. However the development of the Internet platform economy created a huge regional divide.Whether domestic or foreign, some cities became Internet-developed cities, where gathered Internet industry and a large number of Internet companies, showing the characteristics of agglomeration. At the same time the backward areas' growth speed is faster. Why the Internet platform economy shows such seemingly contradictory development characteristics, how the agglomeration advantage is formed and which effects played role during the growth are the problems this article attempts to solve. This article uses the path analysis method to explain the regional agglomeration.First we try to find the influencing factors of Internet platform economy and divide them into external environmental factors and Internet talents.Through the theoretical analysis,by comparing the path mechanisms they rely on,especially the real economy factor and the Internet talent factor. It is believed that the real economy factor plays a direct role through the network sales path, while the Internet talent factor plays a role through the innovation path and the enterprise path, and it also shows a cumulative effect of Internet talent. So the agglomeration development advantage of some cities is better explained by the path effect of the Internet talent. The existence of the agglomeration advantage in some cities in the process of the Internet platform economy's development has led to the disadvantage of the backward areas that compared with the more developed cities. How to improve the Internet platform economy in the backward areas? We think the virtual agglomeration caused by the Internet platform pattern makes the cities' economic exchanges tighter. So it is necessary to value the spillover effect between cities, especially the spillover of developed cities to backward areas. In theory, both the Internet content and Internet technology in developed cities have positive effects on backward cities, but there also exists a negative effect which is the competition for Internet talent. In general it has played a positive spillover effect due to the lower stage of the Internet platform economy in backward areas. The analysis used the panel data from 252 cities from 2015 to 2017,and used the"Internet plus" index given by the Tencent Research Institute as a proxy variable. The path effect of the factors were verified through the mediation effect model and the spillover effect was verified by the spatial econometric model. The use of three different spatial weight matrices robustly proved the spillover effect from developed cities to backward cities.Further the article also constructed a matrix of inter-city traffic frequency(railway frequency plus flight frequency),and set thresholds of traffic frequency to discuss the change of spillover effect with the increasing of the inter-city transportation. It was found that as the transportation frequency continues to increase, the spillover gradually decreases and then become stable. That is to say,it has a stronger driving effect on remote and backward areas, which not only explains the development in backward areas, but also draw the conclusion that there are different characteristics between the Internet platform economy and the traditional economy. The analysis of the path effects and the spillover effects will help to better understand the Internet platform economy, and then propose better policy recommendations for reducing the regional divide.According to the conclusions,it is necessary to introduce relevant policies in various regions, value the integration with the local real economy to develop the Internet platform economy, pay special attention to the cultivation and attraction of Internet talents, and also value the coverage of Internet infrastructure to make full use of the spillover effect, which have created a lot of room for backward areas' growth.
