In recent years,China's export of woody forest products has flourished and China has become a major exporter of woody forest products in the world. With the advent of China's economic development transition period,China's wood forest products export trade structure is also facing transformation and upgrading:the export commodity structure of China's woody forest products is mostly concentrated in labor-intensive products, lack of scientific and technological content and added value;Since inter-industry trade is the main export trade mode, the level of intra-industry trade is low,and it is at a disadvantage in the international professional division of labor;with the rapid rise of domestic labor costs, the comparative advantage of traditional labor tends to weaken, and the international competitiveness of China's woody products declines.Faced with the new situation of economic and trade at home and abroad,China's export of woody forest products relying on cheap labor and earning micro-processing profits is difficult to sustain, tapping new comparative advantages, and promoting the upgrading of export trade structure of China's woody forest products is of great significance.China has a huge scale of market demand, taking advantage of the power of the market demand, and inducing domestic demand to support the export, which is conducive to solving current problems.Under the condition of increasing returns to scale,a country with extraordinary demand for a certain product will attract manufacturers to set up production, thereby becoming an exporter of the product, that is,with home market effect. In the framework of the new trade theory, this paper explores its role in the optimization of export trade structure based on the perspective of home market effects.First of all, this paper describes the of China's export trade from three aspects:the overall characteristics, export competitiveness and export trade structure of China's woody forest products. The market share index, the revealed comparative advantage index and the trade competitive index are used to measure the export competitiveness of China's woody forest products, and the market dispersity index, the profit structure index and the GL index are used to reflect the export trade structure.Secondly,a qualitative analysis of the factors are given in this paper that affect China's export trade structure, such as home market effect, industrial structure, foreign direct investment, technological progress, factor endowment, and trade openness. Then, carry out empirical analysis:first, test the existence of home market effect, and use panel data of 38 countries in which China's wood forest products are exported to analyze whether China's current large domestic market scale has promoted the growth of wood forest product exports;second,to test the effect of home market effect on the optimization of the export structure of China's lumber forest products, this paper uses time series data with the method of lasso regression to avoid the effects of multiple colinearity. The research results show that China's huge domestic market demand has promoted the growth of export scale, and has gone beyond factor endowments to become a more important factor in promoting export growth. However,China's insufficient supply of mid-to-high-end lumber forest products has caused consumption spillovers, and due to the unreasonable consumption structure in China, the home market effect is not conducive to the optimization of lumber forest product export structure. Finally, according to the research conclusions,it is proposed that China should adhere to the policy recommendations of expanding domestic demand, guiding the upgrading of consumption structure, accelerating the reform of forestry supply side and the transformation and upgrading of forestry enterprises.
