Research On The Competitiveness Of Vietnam Timber Industry Based On The Reconstruction Of Global Value Chain

With the deepening development of the global economy,trade and investment are becoming more and more extensive worldwide,and a new pattern of international division of labor has emerged.It reflects the transformation from inter-industry division to intra-industry division and intra-product division,and it gradually forms a global production network.The different links of the value chain will be redistributed and laid out in the international scope,so as to build a new global value chain.It also gives developing countries the opportunity to build their own productivity and competitiveness into global value chains.Under the global redistribution,developed countries have mastered the influence of advanced technology and brand,and have been in the higher link of global value chain,while developing countries are in the middle and low-end link.With the development of economy,the labor-intensive advantage of developed countries is also disappearing.Therefore,many multinational corporations in developed countries have shifted their industries to developing countries with lower costs,which has led to the global value chain being restructured.Nowadays,many developing countries are studying how to embed in the middle and high-end links of the global value chain and maintain competitiveness,including Vietnam.Based on the analysis of the integration process of Vietnam's timber industry into the global value chain,this paper first points out the current situation and existing problems of Vietnam's timber industry under the background of the global timber industry.Secondly,it further analyses the competitive advantage of Vietnam's timber industry in the global value chain,and concludes that although Vietnam's timber industry has made some achievements,it is still in the low-end part of the global value chain,and its competitiveness is weak.In recent years,more and more Vietnamese private timber enterprises have realized this point,constantly tapping their own potential,and striving to be embedded in the middle and high-end links of the global value chain.Then,through the case study of AA Timber Company,this paper points out how Vietnam Timber Company can continuously improve its value in the global value chain.Finally,this paper puts forward some strategies and suggestions from the enterprise level,industry level and government level.It is concluded that the room of improvement of Vietnam's timber industry is still very extensive.With the strong support of the Vietnamese government,it can be said that the opportunity of Vietnam's timber industry to improve its ability in the global value chain is still very high.
