As the pattern of international division of labor continues to deepen,Chinese auto companies are also embedding low value loops into the GVC to strive to enhance their international competitiveness and actively explore the path of industrial upgrading.However,Chinese auto companies are mostly at the lower end of the value chain,mainly in the manufacturing sector,with low added value.In addition,in the past,scholars have studied fewer models for improving the competitiveness of a certain industry in global value chains.Therefore,the purpose of this paper is to explore the position of China's auto industry in the GVC.To study the promotion mode and approach of China's auto industry's international competitiveness.This paper firstly summarizes the main research results of GVC and international competitiveness theory.Then it studies the status quo of China's auto industry and finds that China's auto industry has problems such as weak research and development innovation,low added value of auto parts and slow development of the auto market.Secondly,starting from the research and development,production,sales and marketing service links of the global value chain,a one-to-two evaluation index system was established to comprehensively evaluate the development status and international competitiveness of China's auto industry.Subsequently,taking Geely Group as an example,we will focus on studying how Geely embeds a GVC and a link-up model.Geely Group's low-cost embedding into GVCs through backdoor construction,car construction,and cooperative car construction has gradually increased the value chain to both ends by adopting independent research and development technology,overseas mergers and acquisitions,attracting and cultivating talents.Jumped,and through the acquisition of British manganese copper,Volvo,Daimler and other well-known companies from the main construction of a global value system.Therefore,this article concludes the model and approach of the international competitiveness of Geely Group through analysis and conclusion.Finally,according to the theoretical analysis,the status quo investigation and the results of the case study,this paper proposes four models for upgrading the competitiveness of China's auto industry:the upstream,downstream,midstream,and upstream and downstream ends of the value chain.Automobile companies provide strategic options for upgrading their international competitiveness and upgrading their auto industries.The research of this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)China's auto industry can be upgraded to both ends of the value chain through the promotion of R&D,innovation and marketing services;(2)China's auto industry can improve the bargaining power of auto parts and components industry.(3)China's auto industry can realize the leap in the entire value chain by seizing the opportunity for the development of new energy vehicles;(4)The Chinese auto industry can accelerate the development of autonomous driving and realize the strategic goal of a powerful automobile country.
