Supporting the economic transformation and development of resource-based regions is proposed in the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and industrial transformation is the main direction of speeding up the transformation of economic development mode.Renewable resource-based cities,as the pioneer and demonstration areas for industrial transformation in resource-based cities, lead the sustainable development of resource-based cities. Therefore, this paper adopts the methods of multi-sector economic models, grey correlation models, and multiple regression analysis, comparing the industrial transformation process, effects, and influencing factors of China's renewable resource-based cities from the perspective of regions, different cities, and different types of resources, revealing the heterogeneity and commonality of industrial transformation in renewable resource-based cities. The main contents are as follows:(1)China's renewable resource-based cities are dominated by resource-intensive industries and labor-intensive industries, with a low level of industrial structure. The growth rate of the industrial sector and leading industries has a significant difference showing the trend of a diversified and integrated development. The industrial development generally presents a pattern that the eastern region is greater than the central region followed by the northern-eastern region and the western region, and the difference in industrial development between regions has increased.(2)To reveal the characteristics of industrial structure transformation of renewable resource-based cities in China.Using the methods of industrial transformation coefficient, industrial rationalization index and industrial advanced index to study the process characteristics of industrial transformation,it was foundthat the overall industrial transformation speed of china's renewable resource-based cities has accelerated, but the level of rationalization and the degree of advanced tend to decline. It shows that industrial growth cannot promote the rationalization and advanced development of industrial structure. The speed, rationality, and advanced level of urban industrial transformation in different regions, different scales, and different types of resources have significant personality evolution characteristics.(3)To explore the change of industrial structure transformation effect in China's renewable resource-based cities.Using multi-sector economic model and grey relational degree model to explore the economic effects, environmental effects and spatial effects of industrial structure transformation. In terms of economic effects, the contribution of industrial structure change to economic growth is weakened as a whole, showing the pattern that the northern-eastern region is greater than the western region followed by the central region and eastern region. From the viewpoint of the urban scale, the contribution gap between large and medium-sized cities is gradually narrowed. From the perspective of resource types,it presents the pattern that energy cities is greater than integrated cities followed by metals cities,non-metallic cities and forest-industry cities.Structural effects, competition effects and regional effects of different industrial sectors are heterogeneous. In terms of environmental effects, the environmental effects of industrial transformation is decreasing on the whole. The two show a decoupling state, but the labor-intensive industries have the strongest environmental effects. In terms of spatial effects, the level of correlation between industrial transformation and urban spatial expansion is relatively high.(4)To study the factors of industrial structure transformation in China's renewable resource-based cities. It is found that economic development level, infrastructure construction level, government regulation level, technological innovation capability, and the level of the market are the main influencing factors for the industrial transformation of renewable resource-based cities,in which the level of economic development, government regulation, and technological innovation capabilities shows a positive effect, while the level of the market has a negative effect.According to this, some countermeasures are put forward to improve the industrial structure transformation of renewable resource-based cities.
