Study On The Impact Of Rural Tourism On Sustainable Livelihood Of Farmers In Guilin Ziyuan County

The development of rural tourism to promote the high-quality development of rural areas is an important measure for the implementation of rural revitalization in China in the new era.In 2019,the No.1 Document of the Central Committee of the State Council emphasized the development of leisure agriculture and rural tourism,and the development of leisure tourism,catering and accommodation,cultural experience,health and wellness,and old-age services for urban and rural residents.Obviously,tourism development can effectively promote rural economic development,optimize industrial structure,and promote the employment of rural surplus labor.It has become an important alternative development tool for developing global tourism,accelerating poverty alleviation and building a livable village.Rural tourism has promoted the changes and evolution of the livelihood capital and livelihood strategies of local farmers,which is an important factor affecting the livelihood transformation of farmers.Ziyuan County is located in the northeastern part of Guangxi.It is within the scope of the“Great Guilin Rural Tourism area”.It is a typical natural landscape-supporting tourist destination.It has rich ethnic customs and a long history of rice culture.However,farmers in resource counties are threatened by the fragility of livelihoods in the development of rural tourism.Therefore,it is important to study the impact of rural tourism on the sustainable livelihood of farmers in resource counties to improve the livelihood of local farmers and formulate rural tourism and tourism poverty alleviation policies.Value and practical significance.In this study,four representative villages of rural tourism development(Yongxing Village,Tonghe Village,Datuo Village and Chetian Village)in Ziyuan County were selected.Farmers were divided into five types: working type,part-time tourism type,tourism franchise type,mixed type and farming type.This paper uses participatory farmer evaluation method to conduct household survey and interview data and socio-economic statistics for sample farmer households,draws lessons from the framework of sustainable livelihood analysis,constructs a livelihood capital evaluation model,compares and analyses the livelihood behavior characteristics of different types of farmer households and changes of livelihood capital before and after tourism development,and evaluates livelihood capital and livelihood vulnerability by using analytic hierarchy process Research shows:1.Under the influence of rural tourism,the livelihood capital of farmers in Ziyuan county has increased significantly,but the social capital value of the five major capitals is lower.The main reason is that the farmers in the resource counties belong to the remote mountainous areas,and the farmers have less contact with the outside world.Limited resources.The development of rural tourism has improved the adaptive capacity of farmers,but the number of tourism-based farmers in the study area is small,indicating that rural tourism in resource counties needs further development and publicity.2.There are differences in the livelihood capital of farmers in different types of rural tourism destinations,such as tourism concurrent type > tourism franchise type > mixed type >work type > agriculture type,indicating that the combination of tourism management and agricultural farming or work is a combination of livelihood activities.Conducive to enhancing farmers’ ability to withstand the risks of livelihoods.3.The impact of different capital reserves on livelihood strategies and livelihood activities is different for farmers of tourism and non-tourism livelihood types.Farmers with agriculture-oriented livelihood strategies end to have more advantages in natural capital because farmers can maintain a self-sufficient livelihood from higher natural capital;In contrast.tourism-oriented farmers need to have higher financial capital,social capital and material capital.Engaging in tourism-oriented livelihood strategies can further increase their household income,while tourism feeds on other industries and drives the development of planting,breeding,and handicrafts.Increase the diversity of livelihood strategies and reduce the vulnerability of farmers’ livelihoods.Based on the above conclusions,this paper proposes countermeasures to promote the sustainable livelihood development of rural households in Ziyuan county,which is of great significance for realizing the sustainable development goals of local farmers’ livelihoods and rural tourism destinations.
