Innovation District Oriented Research On The Optimization Strategy Of The Public Space Of Traditional High-tech Parks In Guangzhou

In 2014,the Brookings Institution published the report the rise of innovation district: A new geography of innovation in America which elaborated on the spatial clustering of innovation activities in urban areas and analyzed its causes,resource element characteristics,typical types and construction experience.According to the report,"Innovation District" refers to the geographic areas where leading-edge anchor institutions and companies cluster and connect with start-ups,business incubators,and accelerators.They are also physically compact,transit-accessible,and technically-wired and offer mixed use housing,office,and retail.Under the background of innovation-driven development,China is facing the challenge of transformation and upgrading of traditional science and technology parks.The proposal of the concept of " innovation district" has caused extensive discussion.The construction of high-tech parks is indispensable in promoting the growth of Guangzhou's national economy,but with the transformation of economic driving factors,traditional science parks have gradually exposed the staged problems under the constraints of the times.Most of the traditional high-tech parks in Guangzhou are distributed in the inner city with complete urban supporting facilities.Taking advantage of the resources of the central urban area and revitalizing the existing space of the existing science park are the breakthrough points for enhancing the competitiveness of Guangzhou's innovation-driven development and realizing the leap-forward development of high-tech parks.It is of great reference significance to the construction of innovative high-tech parks underway.Therefore,the study of the concept of innovation district is conducive to Guangzhou 's realization of innovation-driven development and the promotion of high-quality sustainable development of high-tech parks.This paper attempts to interpret the concept of innovation district,combine with Guangzhou's innovation development stage,take the public space of traditional high-tech parks as an entry point,and use theoretical research and current situation of the development to expand the elaboration.Existing problems in the development of the status quo,and put forward the strategy of optimizing and improving the public space of traditional science and technology parks under the guidance of urban innovation zones.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 is an introduction,which mainly introduces the research background and significance,the definition of related concepts,the research content and methods,and the research framework.The innovation district refers to the whole urban space that focuses on attracting,nurturing,and retaining the talent,innovation clusters,incubator and other innovation subjects,and creating an innovation milieu as a means to cause the concentration of creative activities;this paper focuses on traditional high-tech parks,and some chapters involve innovation high-tech parks,but there is no discussions in depth.Chapter 2 is the literature review and concept of innovation district.It focuses on the research status,domestic and overseas development,the assets,and types of the innovation districts,and learn about the experience and inspiration of Barcelona,Boston,Sydney,and other international practice cases.Chapter 3 is the Innovation Districts-Oriented element framework of public space.It analyzes and constructs the element framework from the two aspects of hard factors and soft factors.Chapter 4 is the public space survey of Guangzhou Science Park.Based on the analysis of the development of Guangzhou high-tech parks,which classified into three types--the “main city implanted renewal” model,“main city existing renewal” model and “park promoted” model.Typical cases are invested on the spot to analyze the problems of the public space in Guangzhou traditional high-tech parks.Chapter 5 puts forward Innovation Districts-Oriented principles and strategies for promoting the public spaces in the traditional high-tech parks.The three principles of accessibility,openness and networking are put forward.The holistic strategies are brought forward combining both the hard elements and soft elements,and targeted strategies are proposed towards to the three types of high-tech parks.Finally,make a conclusion about the viewpoints and main innovation of this paper,reflects on the shortcomings,and proposes the direction for further research.
