After 20 years of reform and development,China has become a country highly attractive for foreign investors leading to great return on investment,but does not come without challenge such as cross-cultural gap.An understanding of the Chinese culture and its business context is the foundation for a good cooperation between Chinese collaborators and expatriates.The purpose of the study is to identify from cultural and business environment differences where the main gap is coming from.The objectives are,firstly to facilitate the French managers expatriated to China better understand these cultural gaps,secondly provide to French manager some ways to overcome these obstacles,and avoid culture clash.The study combines theoretical study with empirical study by using interview method.The interviewees were from France working as manager in China.Resulting from the interview made,different aspects have been identified.The major difficulties include language and communication,how people are impacted by the hierarchy,the different standard time,and how empowered people within the Chinese business environment.Furthermore,the different other barriers brought to light in this study such as being aware of the Chinese etiquette,body language,behavior and relationship toward individual and group.From this study,a recommendation will be elaborated in order to provide a solution to facilitate their expatriation in China.
