| In the Internet of Everything(IoE),enterprises have gradually transformed into digital organizations. In this context, enterprise social media platforms(ESMPs)have emerged to meet organizational requirements of communication and collaboration within and outside organization, which promoting the improvement of corporate work efficiency and transformation of work styles. One of the most significant changes is the “group” function on ESMPs.Based on this realistic background, many scholars in the community of scholars began to explore the key issues related to this research topic.Through reviewing the existing literature, this study identifies four research gaps about the usage of ESMPs from current studies:(1)The exploration of social media usage in organizations is still lacking, and limited literature which is related to this topic is also detached from the organizational context;(2)Few researchers explored the group participation behaviors on ESMPs,and there is little literature focusing on group types and employees’ main behaviors in groups;(3)Users’ satisfaction towards ESMPs is still an unknown issue in academia and business circles;4)There is lack of literature systematically explores the motivations, behaviors and outcomes of ESMPs usages from theoretical perspective.Based on literature gap mentioned above, this paper identifies the main groups types on main behaviors in these groups on ESMPs through the exploratory case study. These behaviors in these groups are used as the measurement items of different groups’ participation. In other words,in addition to the motivation and results of ESMPs usage, the measurement items of ESMPs groups’ participation behavior are semi-self-developed based on the existing literature.Furthermore,I designed the research questionnaire of this study and collected 418 valid samples that met the research conditions, and then used data analysis tool – Smart-PLS,to test the theoretical model proposed in this study. The main findings include the following:(1)There are mainly five types of groups on ESMPs.They are small closed group, large closed group, professional group, organizational group, and public community. Each group includes three kinds of participation behaviors – dialogue and discussion, post content and browse content.(2)Different task characteristics and psychological needs influence employees’ different group engagement.(3)Participation in different kinds of groups influence employees’ job performance, perceived individual learning and system satisfaction.(4)Employees’ job performance and perceived individual learning plays different moderator role between employees’ participation in groups and system satisfaction towards ESMPs.Based on above conclusions and findings,I discuss and summarize the conclusions of this study. In addition, the theoretical and practical implications of this research are discussed, including filling the existing literature gap and providing practical guidance for users, designers and managers of ESMPs.Finally,I also point out the shortcomings and limitations of our research and identify the future research directions. |
